Q re: coffeepots at AKL...

We haven't been to AKL in 2 years, and I can't remember if the pots they provide you with have filters and real coffee packets, or those (ridiculous) "coffee in a filter" things that you just slip into the holder.

I'd really like to bring my own Starbucks and filters, but won't worry about it if it's not that kind of maker... my DH is good w/ going to get me Kona coffee from Mara. But I'd much prefer waking to some S'bucks percolating in my room!!

You can get travel french presses from World Market or Bed Bath and I can't get out of there fast enough.

They work well.

At least in the DVC rooms, they have a large Mr. Coffee style machines (flat bottom filters). The "coffee" at Disney is horrible. Brewing my own starts the day soo much better.

Non-DVC rooms have small 4 cup machine. We didn't use it, but I recall that there were no filters in the room, so the coffee had to be the in-filter type.

Forgot to add, it is a standard coffee maker so you could bring your own filters and grounds.

I went to another reputable Disney site to look at the photos and it looks like they have the standard 4-cup coffee makers in them like they have at the moderate resorts at AKL. We used our own (standard sized) coffee filters and coffee last week and it worked out fine. I don't think the machines had a timer built into them so you might have to bring a timer if you really want to wake up to that wonderful smell :-) (The nice thing is that coffee filters pack easily and don't weigh much!)

For those of us that prefer hot tea - I run the pot with just hot water a couple of times to wash out the coffee taste and then run just water for the tea bags that I bring on my own.

Thanks for the answers... I know we brewed our own coffee there 2 years ago, and always do at CBR... just wasn't sure if they'd switched over to the "in filter" variety between then and now. I hate them, b/c you're stuck using hotel coffee... . Looks like I'll be packing my Starbucks and filters once again!
