    Default off site hotel help

I have a family member that wants to go to Disney world next Dec (2013) it would be the 1st week. 2 adults 2 children ages 9 & 5 at that time. They are going to be on a tight budget and are looking to stay off property for a week. Do you guys have any recommendations on a good clean hotel that offers breakfast and is affordable for a week also semi close to the main gate? We’ve only ever stayed on property so I can’t help them but I know many of you stay off site. Thanks in advance for all the help.

I highly recommend the Springhill Suites Orlando Lake Buena Vista in Marriott Village. We always stay on property at a DVC resort, but last summer we needed an extra few nights. The Springhill Suites was only $87/night AAA rate and it includes a great breakfast. Also, there was no parking or resort fee and it is very close to Disney (near Downtown Disney area).

This past April we did a short trip on a budget and stayed at the Seralago. It was very inexpensive, around 40/night. But it was clean. They had a resort feel with hot tubs, play area, nice pool, several resteraunts, a quick mart and an arcade. No breakfast but the room had a fridge, microwave and coffee pot. It was not fancy, but it was clean, cheap and very close to the parks.
There were several large family groups there and several tour groups from china.

We drive down, and always get there a day early. We stay for that one night at Knights Inn on 192 about a half a mile past the WDW entrance. Nothing fancy, very basic, with a continental breakfast. In 2010, the price was under $40 per night.

I'm sure there are plenty of options out there. I second the Springhill Suites recommendation. Just make sure your friends are aware that after paying for parking in the parks, the costs may level out between staying off and on site.
