"Glee" star Cory Monteith Found Dead
The general thought is drug overdose. He just got out of rehab a little while ago. I am very saddened by this. I thought he was very talented, and still so young. His family and friends must be crushed. He was also in a serious relationship with Glee Co-star Leah Michelle. So, so sad.
"Glee" star Cory Monteith was found dead at the Fairmount Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver.
Vancouver police confirmed Saturday night at a press conference that the 31-year-old actor's body was found just after noon on Saturday.
Police responded within minutes of receiving a call from the BC Ambulance Service regarding a sudden death in a room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel at 1038 Canada Place in downtown Vancouver.
Upon arriving at the scene, paramedics advised the officers that Monteith was dead. Coroner's staff was also on the scene.
Officials said no cause of death was apparent at this time, but that Monteith had been dead for several hours before his body was discovered.
According to the police statement, Monteith checked into the hotel on Saturday, July 6 and was due to check out of the room on Saturday. Monteith had guests in his room on Friday night, but video and key entry records show him returning to his room by himself in the early morning hours when police believe he was alone when he died.
Hotel staff discovered his body when they went to check his room after he missed check-out.
Police officials have detectives assigned to the case who attended with the Forensic Identification Unit to examine the scene to continue investigating the death.
The police investigators have secured hotel video and room access records. They have spoken with hotel staff, who police say are providing their utmost cooperation.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. The Coroner will be determining the next steps with respect to establishing cause of death, but all indications are that there was no foul play.

Very sad news. I haven't been a regular Glee watcher for a while, but he always stuck out to me as being very talented. So sad..

Was a loyal Glee watcher until they 'graduated.' This is shocking news, much like Heath Ledger was for me. RIP Cory.

That's what first popped into my mine too Mel. Two young, hugely talented young actors gone well before they even lived.

Really sad news. He had so much going for him, but apparently maybe some demons he couldn't chase.

I am saddened to hear this he certainly had talent. Although I do also feel this is Whitney Houston all over again because he had a drug problem and I felt he should of reached out for help prior to checking in the hotel if he was feeling like he needed help.

It's shocking, even more so because he had an important role this past season in Glee--Finn essentially stood in for Mr. Shue. I know it was just acting, but he seemed so calm and together.

Such a shame. It looks like they are saying it was the mixing of heroin and alcohol that provided the fatal punch. With these kind of deaths often the friends and family struggle with survivor's guilt. "I should've done more. He shouldn't have been alone." But at the end of the day, he is the one that made a choice. Addiction is a terrible, terrible demon. With his death comes a new face to addiction and how well some people are able to hide it.

"At this point there is no evidence to suggest Mr. Monteith's death was anything other than a most-tragic accident," the office said in a statement.
If you're taking heroin, it's not an accident. The recommended dose for it is zero.
