Innoventions West sign debuted in 10/98 inviting guests
to the new pre-show.
The information on this site may not
be reproduced in any form on the Internet without express written
permission from EDC.
This was the pre-show before the renovation
for the new Innoventions: Road to Tomorrow. More information about
the new exhibits will be added in the future.
Entering the Innoventions pavilion by passing
under the purple arches of the Innoventions West sign, we see a
sign ahead on the door. It has a picture of Tom Morrow 2.0 telling
us to turn to the right. We proceed down a short hallway. At the
end of the hallway is a desk sporting the Innoventions logo on the
front. An interesting clock on the wall behind the desk displays
the seconds left until the next show. A Cast Member welcomes us
to Innoventions and asks us to proceed into the pre-show room when
it is time.
We see a large desk with blueprints on it as well as a large map
of Innoventions on the wall behind. A small animatronic fellow riding
a new innovention sits in front of an instruction manual. We are
about to meet Tom Morrow 2.0. He is called version 2.0 because the
original version of Tom Morrow was our host in the old Mission
to Mars Tomorrowland attraction. When Disneyland's Innoventions
opened in 1998, a pre-show was created introducing the concept by
way of an Audio-Animatronic Tom Morrow (voiced by Nathan Lane).
Epcot's Tom Morrow 2.0 looks and sounds nothing like the Disneyland
version. He sounds more like he should be from New York and named
Vinny. The music heard at the end of the pre-show is "There's
a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" written by the Sherman brothers
for the Carousel of Progress. The lyrics were rewritten for the
Disneyland Innoventions pre-show and used here too.
Tom Morrow 2.0:
Let's see ... I think I push this down ... Whoa! (he takes off
and turns, then slows down) I got it! (he bounces back and forth)
OK, I haven't got it at all. Oo, oh, there you are. Hee, hee.
Hiya folks, nice to see ya. (clears throat) Welcome. My name is
Tom Morrow 2.0 and I am your tour guide to the bright new world
of Innoventions. As you can see I am test driving our newest Innovention.
Actually, at the moment, I think it's test driving me. I'm sure
you know by now that Innoventions is a (turns around and holds
arms out as far as they go) BIG place. But, did you also know
that it's filled with exciting new products, technologies, and
inventions that will make your lives betta. And what betta way
for me to show them all to you than with this transportation prototype.
(loses control for a second) Oo. On second thought, maybe you'd
be better off with a self guided tour just until, ya know, I get
the hang of this thing. Whoa!

Tom Morrow 2.0 giving the Innoventions Pre-Show
Tom Morrow 2.0:
Right now, you're at Innoventions West. (The West Side lights
up with a musical flourish.) The West Side features the latest
in communications, computers, and all kinds of new entertainment
stuff that's really keen! Keen, by the way, is a very innovative
term. (Another musical flourish accompanies the little red lights
on the map as they cross Innoventions Plaza and light up the East
Side.) Over at Innoventions East, you'll discover technologies
that will improve your lives at home, at work, and while traveling-ing-ing
(goes out of control across the desk). Wow, did you see that!!
Now, Innoventions is a hands-on kinda place. So, put your hands
on everything. Just give it a try and if you have any questions,
just ask any of our Innoventions hosts. Don't worry, (echo sound
accompanies voice) no sales robots involved. (laughs) Oh, and
if you get lost, just do this: HELP!!!! (throws arms open and
wobbles back and forth)
So, on behalf of Tom Morrow Tours, I'd like to
say (echo voice) you're on your own! (laughs) (408 K) Enjoy your tour
and remember: (music picks up)
There's a bright new world of Innoventions
Shining in our eyes in every way
And a great big beautiful tomorrow
Headed right this way!
(once again, goes out of control) Yee haw. Whoa.
Out of the way! Whoa. Ahh!
The automatic doors open down the short hallway to the right of
the stage and we proceed into Innoventions.
