<< Introduction >>
Hi, All. Isn't it
the month of March that is supposed to come in like a lion? Well -- Mother
Nature needs to speak to Mr. September! The poor folks that live in the
South can certainly stand a break from hurricanes. Enough already! Here's
hoping the remainder of the season is quiet and any upcoming storms all
fizzle out. Of course, should bad weather strike Central Florida, you can
count on timely updates from INTERCOT on how it might effect your vacation
plans.
This Edition is full of announcements - from resort specials, Olympic gold
medalists visiting the Disney parks, Michael Eisner's retirement, to an
exciting Stitch sighting. Not to mention Ray is singing Christmas carols and
Ron is hearing voices. Eek!
Grab your coffee, pull
up a chair and catch up with the latest Insider. (Editors Note: You might
want to cover your ears too if Ray starts singing!)

Eisner to Leave
Disney In 2006:
Michael Eisner has announced that he will leave the Walt Disney Co. when his
contract expires in 2006. "Until then I shall continue to exert every effort
to help the company achieve our goals, to assist the Board in selecting the
new Chief Executive Officer, and to make the transition expeditious,
efficient, and smooth and easy," Eisner said in a letter to the Disney
board. His retirement will end a two-decade reign with the company.

Disney’s Swim with the Stars” Tour:
On August 31, Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps and his
teammates Lenny Krayzelburg and Ian Crocker, began a 12 city tour across the
country introducing “Disney’s Swim with the Stars” tour. The nationwide
tour began at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and will end at Disneyland
Resort in California. One school in each tour city will be part of a
community outreach program created by the Disney theme parks. Schoolchildren
will have an opportunity to meet the three Olympians during a 30-minute
session that includes tips, encouragement and a special appearance by Mickey
Mouse.
"I missed them in the parade, (it was at 2:00, while I was riding
Thunder Mountain), but at about 4:00 they showed up near the castle! I got
lots of great pics!
- Lindsey
"Michael Phelps was at Penn State on his "Swim with the Stars" tour
today. I heard he did like swimming relays, and workshops with local swim
group and YMCA's- it was a neat experience for all. He then went down to our
HUB (Commons area) and answered questions and signed autographs from like
5:30 to about 7:30. We passed by his tour bus (with Underwater Disney
Characters and all exclaiming "We're going to Disneyland!") and my sister
got to see him (so she was in awe! It seemed like a cool event!"

It’s beginning
to look a lot like Christmas….everywhere you go….
Summer is ending and that fall nip will be in the air soon, isn’t it kind of
early to be talking about Christmas? Not if you’re planning on being in Walt
Disney World anytime in December. Now is the time for people to get
Priority
Seatings, tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and arrange for
the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package if you plan on traveling to Walt
Disney World November 26-December 30. With the frequency of questions
relating to these…it is starting to look a lot like Christmas around
INTERCOT.
Where do you go for answers if you have questions about Christmas
Celebrations at Walt Disney World? Of course you come to INTERCOT. Within
INTERCOT…the first place to go would be Info Central. In Info Central,
you’ll be able to get a general description of the
celebrations and festivities all over Walt Disney World. We also have
detailed pages devoted to
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and the
Candlelight Processional.
Don’t forget that we also have pages dedicated to
historical park hours in order to have an idea of park hours over the
last few years.
If you still haven’t gotten your questions answered, feel free to ask away
on the Discussion Boards where our resident experts will do what they can to
help you.
<< History & Trivia with

I’ve been hearing voices....
No, not those kinds of voices. But on a recent visit to
Mickey’s PhilharMagic I heard some of the voices that have become
familiar to us. I heard Bill Farmer as the voice of Goofy. Farmer is an
experienced voice actor who has spoken for a variety of characters ranging
from Foghorn Leghorn (Space Jam) to George Bush (Murphy Brown TV show).
I heard Jodi Benson as Ariel, Gilbert Gottfried as Iago and Brad Kane as
Aladdin. There was also the voice of Jerry Orbach as Lumiere, Rowan Atkinson
as Zazu, Lea Salonga as Jasmine and Blayne Weaver as Peter Pan.
Donald’s voice was there, of course. In fact there are two Donald voices in
PhilharMagic. There are four lines done by the current voice of Donald Duck,
animator Tony Anselmo. The rest of Donald’s lines are from archived work
done by Clarence “Ducky” Nash, who was the original voice of Donald Duck.
Nash was Donald’s voice for more than 50 years and passed away in 1985.
Mickey’s voice is by Wayne Allwine, a 61 year old actor who has been
speaking for Mickey since 1974. In addition to his work as a voice actor,
Allwine is a movie sound editor. His name appears in the credits of several
motion pictures, including “Inner Space” and “Star Trek V: The Final
Frontier“.
And let’s not forget Minnie. Her voice is that of Russi Taylor, who has been
Minnie for many years. Russi can also be heard in dozens of other
productions. On television she can be heard in “Duck Tales“, “The Simpsons”
and “Scooby-Doo“. In motion pictures she contributed to “A Bug’s Life“,
“Aladdin“, and the two “Babe” movies. And here is a stunning fact. Taylor is
married to Mickey’s voice, Wayne Allwine. They met during the production of
“Totally Minnie“, a 1988 TV special hosted by Suzanne Somers.

As you read this
Jane is off enjoying Disneyland .... without us. She'll be back later
in the month to fill us all in on the Water Cooler happenings. Happy
Vacation, Jane!
<< Conclusion >>
In closing we'd
like to extend a special "thank you" to everyone that helped with the recent
hurricane coverage. Your input was greatly appreciated and certainly one of
the reasons INTERCOT continues to be such a special community. We'll be back
at the end of the month with more topics and tidbits. Oh, and Chairman &
Chief Imagination Officer of INTERCOT, JohnY just might share his
experiences on a Segway around Epcot, complete with dorky pictures!
Until then, Happy
INTERCOTing!
