Autumn is upon us, and with it a
great annual event at the Walt Disney World Resort. The 14th annual
Epcot International Food & Wine Festival has kicked-off, and in this
edition of the Insider we take a gander at what tasty treats there are
had to be at this year's festival. Hang on to them hats and glasses,
cause this here's the most informative ride on the internet!

Festival >>
Epcot's World Showcase always bestows
a bevy of dining options upon its Guests, but even more so during the
Food and Wine festival thanks to a multinational array of special
kiosks. During the festival, Guests are invited to purchase special
appetizer-size portions of foods, desserts, beers and wines--most of
which are not normally offered around World Showcase. Guests are also
able to partake in a number of special dining events only offering
during the festival and soak in the sounds of the Eat to the Beat
Concert Series.
Here's a look at the kiosks for the
2009 Festival:
The Athens, Greece kiosk offers such
food items as Greek Salad, Chicken Souvlaki, and Baklava and such
beverage items as Boutari Santorini, Kourtaki Mavrodaphne and Tsantali
Rapsani.
The Bangkok, Thailand kiosk offers
such food items as Chicken & Coconut Soup and Green Papaya Salad, and
such beverage items as Singha Beer.
The Barcelona, Spain kiosk offers
such food items as Red Snapper Escabeche and Crema Catalana and such
beverage items as Poema Cava Brut, Poema Verdejo and Abadia Retuerta
Selección Especial.
The Bologna, Italy kiosk offers such
food items as Cannelloni, Pizza, and Polpettini and such beverage items
as Prosecco, Pinot Sartori and Acqua Panna.
The Brewer's Collection kiosk offers
such food items as Warm Pretzel Bread Stick and Landjäeger and a wide
selection of beers.
The Buenos Aires, Argentina kiosk
offers such food items as Beef Empanada and Grilled Beef Skewer and such
beverage items as Bodega Norton Reserva Cabernet, Bodega Norton
Torrontes and Bodega Norton Sauvignon.
The Cape Town, South Africa kiosk
offers such food items as Mealie Soup and Seared Beef Tenderloinand such
beverage items as Fairview Winery Pinotage, Goats do Roam White and
Goats do Roam Rose.
The Cork, Ireland kiosk offers such
food items as Fisherman’s Pie, Aged-Irish Cheddar, and Warm Chocolate
Lava Cake and such beverage items as Bunratty Meade and Guinness
Draught.
The Desserts & Champagne kiosk offers
such food items as Austrian Gugelhupf, Strawberry Shortcake, and Frozen
Grand Marnier Parfait and such beverage items as Champagne, Rosé
Impérial and Nectar Impérial.
The Flavorhood kiosk by Edy's Ice
Cream offers such food items as vanilla, chocolate and mint chocolate
chip ice cream.
The Hops & Barley kiosk offers such
food items as Boston-style Crab Cake and New England Lobster Roll and a
wide selection of beers from Samuel Adams Brewery.
The Kraków, Poland kiosk offers such
food items as Kielbasa and Potato Pierogie and Braised Pork Shank and
such beverage items as Chopin Raspberry Chiller.
The Marrakesh, Morocco kiosk offers
such food items as Kefta, Falafel Pita, and Baklava and such beverage
items as Sangria, Royale Tangerine Mimosa and Iced Mint Tea.
The Melbourne, Australia kiosk offers
such food items as Seared Barramundi, Grilled Lamb Chop, and Lamington
and such beverage items as Rosemount Traminer Riesling, Rosemount Pinot
Noir and Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet.
The Mexico City, Mexico kiosk offers
such food items as Taco de Cochinita Pibil, Quesadilla con Chorizo, and
Tostada de Pollo and such beverage items as L.A. Cetto Chardonnay, Dos
Equis Beer and Mexican Sunrise.
The Montreal, Canada kiosk offers
such food items as Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, Maple Glazed Salmon,
and Maple Sugar Candy and such beverage items as Moosehead Beer, Château
des Charmes Vidal Icewine and St. David's Bench Vineyard Merlot.
The Mouse Catch kiosk offers such
food items as Dorothea, Piave, and Mahon cheeses and such beverage items
as Heineken Beer, Rossi Prosecco and Marques de Caceres Rioja.
The Munich, Germany kiosk offers such
food items as Späetzle Gratin, Nuernberger Sausage on a Pretzel Roll,
and Apple Strudel and such beverage items as Blue Slate Riesling,
Spatlese, and Schloss Reinhartshausen Old Vines Riesling.
The New Delhi, India kiosk offers
such food items as Rava Masala Dosa and Gulab Jamun and such beverage
items as Mango Lassi, Kingfisher Premium Lager Beer and Sula Vineyards
Chenin Blanc.
The New Orleans, Louisiana kiosk
offers such food items as Crawfish Étouffée, Chicken and Andouille
Gumbo, and Praline Bread Pudding and such beverage items as Abita Amber
Beer, Abita Purple Haze Beer and Sazzerazz Cocktail.
Location: American Adventure
The Paris, France kiosk offers such
food items as Escargots Persillade en Brioche, Cabernet Short Ribs, and
Chocolate Milk Creme Brûlée and such beverage items as Sparking
Pomegranate Kir, Parisien Cosmo Slush, and Chateau Mezain Merlot.
The Rio de Janiero, Brazil kiosk
offers such food items as Shrimp Stew, Grilled Pork Skewer, and Passion
Fruit Mousse and such beverage items as Leblon Frozen Caipirinha, Miolo
Pinot Noir and Miolo Chardonnay.
The San Juan, Puerto Rico kiosk
offers such food items as Croquettas de Jamon, Arroz con Pollo, and
Guava Cookie and such beverage items as Bacardi Frozen Mojito and
Bacardi Frozen Dragon Berry Colada.
The Santiago, Chile kiosk offers such
food items as Rock Shrimp Ceviche, Corn and Cheese Arepa, and Alfajores
and such beverage items as Concha y Toro Cabernet Sauvignon and Viñedos
Emiliana Carmenere.
The Shanghai, China kiosk offers such
food items as Chicken Ürümqi, Shrimp Rice Pancake, and Caramel Ginger
Ice Cream and such beverage items as Green Tea Plum Wine Cooler, Dragon
Hollow Chardonnay and Happy Lychee.
The Tokyo, Japan kiosk offers such
food items as Spicy Tuna Roll, Sukiyaki Beef Roll, and California Sushi
Roll and such beverage items as Hana No Mai Ginjo, Kurosawa Kimoto
Junmai and Kirin Draft Beer.
The Vienna, Austria kiosk offers such
food items as Goulash mit Servietten Knoedel, Mushroom Soup, and
Sachertorte and such beverage items as Leth Grüner Veltliner, Leth
Riesling and Iby Zweigelt.
The Wellington, New Zealand kiosk
offers such food items as Seared Sea Scallop and Lamb Slider and such
beverage items as Villa Maria Private Bin Unoaked Chardonnay, Villa
Maria Private Bin Cabernet Sauvignon and Villa Maria Private Bin
Riesling.
The 2009 festival is serving up such
special dining events as Mexico Tequila Tastings, Cheese Seminars and
specially themed meals that rotate themes each week. The classic event
“Sweet Sundays” has returned for the 2009 festival, as well as, the
perennial favorite “Party for the Senses”.
Reservations are required for some of
the events and can be made via 407-WDW-FEST (939-3378).
Guests can also groove during this
gastronomical event with the special Eat to the Beat concerts held
through-out the festival in the American Gardens Theater. The 2009 Eat
to the Beat concert series features performances by Better Than Ezra,
Kool & The Gang, Taylor Hicks, Billy Ocean, Sister Hazel, and Vanessa
Carlton and more.

this edition, cause it's done. We hope it's gotten you excited to plan
a trip to Walt Disney World during the annual Food and Wine Festival
event. The food and fun of the 2009 festival continues to be dished out
at Epcot through November 8, 2009-- so there's still time for a last
minute trip to catch the culinary excitement. Dates for the 2010
Festival will likely be announced early next year, so even if you can't
make this year's festival keep an eye out for next year's dates. We'll
