-- One Minute Service --

I ran across this book in a search and decided to check it out since I hadn’t encountered it before. One Minute Service: Keys to Providing Great Service Like Disney World (2009, DC Press, 135 pages) by Bruce Loeffler is a short read that contains a lot of helpful hints about service that can be quickly implemented. The premise of the book is that it only takes a minute to provide excellent service. While I enjoyed reading this book and did pick up some great ideas from it, I found the Disney connection somewhat tenuous. Loeffler worked for Disney and while that work appears to have greatly influenced his philosophy towards service, there were not an overabundance of stories about Walt Disney World and no real glimpses into the inner workings at the Disney parks.

-- Mickey and the Magical Map --

For a long time now I have been looking forward to a stage show returning to the Fantasyland Theatre at Disneyland. On June 7th, 2013; I was finally able to sit down and enjoy the newest production, Mickey and the Magical Map.

The outdoor seating is completely shaded for a hot Summer afternoon or a rainy day in Spring. I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house. Up close, far away, center stage, on the side – this show is enjoyable from any angle. There are lots of seats but I would still suggest that you arrive perhaps half an hour prior to show time to insure a spot.

This is such a fun show. Mickey gets in to mischief which takes him and the audience to many different places on the map. Along the way he encounters familiar characters who entertain with familiar songs. The costumes are colorful and the scenery is eye catching. The singing and dancing gets the audience humming or singing along while tapping their toes. A great job all around by both cast and crew. The kids seem to especially like when streamers burst out in to the audience at the end!

The next time you are at Disneyland, make sure you take the time to visit the Fantasyland Theatre for this new musical presentation.

-- Epcot: Part Three --

-There are 28 mischievous little trolls hidden throughout the Norway pavilion. Some are single and some are pairs.

- In China, in the Yong Feng Shangdian, you will discover a weathered copper bowl with handles n each side. This bowl holds a few inches of water in it. Dip your finger in the water and rub it in a circle around the bowl rim (with pressure) the bowl will sing, but the vibrations from your finger will cause the water to ripple, and then suddenly jump and splash.

- The sixteen painted coats of arms adorning the front façade outside Sommerfest and the Biergarten Restaurant represent Germany’s sixteen regions.

- Hampton court is the palace that inspired the building housing The Toy Shop, across from the Rose and Crown Pub.
