Cool "Did you know?" Disney fact

Did you know that "The Black Couldron" was the first ever rated PG cartoon?Cool, huh!
"When hinges creak in doorless chambers... and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls.. whenever candlelights flicker... where the air is deathly still... that is the time when ghosts are present... practicing their terror with ghoulish delight."

    Cool

Frankly, that doesn't really strike me as progress. I kind of think it's too bad they took that step. But that's just me.

    Question

The Black Cauldron was Disney's answer to the Fantasy revival of the early eighties, movies like Conan, Krull, BeastMaster and the animated Hobbit and LOTR films were popular with kids. It only made sense that Disney tested the waters. It does have a cult following.....like with most things that means it was a flop. The Horned King was a great villain, though.

Here is a good question, have you ever seen a Black Cauldron refrence in the parks?
    Loads of trips since 1974...

I did know that it has a PG rating, but I wasn't sure if it was the first cartoon to receive that rating.

The only reference in any of the Disney parks to "The Black Cauldron" that I'm aware of is, I believe, in Disneyland Paris. I think there is a walk through attraction based on the movie.
