    Default Candlelight Processional? in Disneyland?

Is it true that there is a Candlelight Processional down Main Street? I saw the Candlelight Processional at WDW in 2005 an it was beautiful. I read somewhere that there is a CP in Disneyland, too, but I do not see any discussions on it or times for it. I am going to be at the DLR December 5-7, 2008, and I read that that is when it may take place. Any ideas? Suggestions? Has anyone ever been to a CP at Disneyland?

    Thanks!!

I've been to the one at WDW and DL and the one at WDW is amazing compared to the one at DL. The processional goes down mainstreet and the event happens on a stage in front of train station. We saw Dick Van Dyke do the reading. Marie Osmond has also done it in the past. You can make preferred seating requests for it (with a dinner package) I believe. We did not. We stood for hours prior to the event. There really isn't a place to sit and watch it. Imagine getting a standing spot for fireworks and standing there for 3-4 hours and then having to stand for the entire show. Even the few that had seats, had terrible views and complained that they really wasted their time and money.

There are about 400 seats available for the dining packages and the rest are all "Standby" that form a line at Christmas Tree Point
on Main St. about two hours before each processional.

The early procession starts at IASW and ends at the Main St. Train Station to form a living Christmas Tree.

The second processional starts at the hub, roughly 1/3 of the distance of the first, so if the procession through the park is more important than the actual performance to you, the early one may be a better choice.

The prior poster's experience is typical without a dining / seating reservation.
This is a tremendously popular event, so be sure to watch the AP site
for the announcement of the reservation phone # or call (714) 781-DINE for further info.

I should also clarify that those on the package plan are escorted directly to their seats from the park entrance and only see the very "end" of the procession, but they do see the entire show on the stage very close-up.

We did this last year as a treat to my mom, who adores choirs. We did the dinner thing at Steakhouse 55, which is pricey, but worth it. The ceremony was beautiful - but cold! Bring a blanket and mittens/scarf. Being in Southern California, we forget that it actually gets cold and sitting on wooden seats for two hours makes for a stiff body.
I thought the program was wonderful. I am not a big fan of choirs, but went with mom because she liked it and I have to say, for a once in a lifetime thing, it was worth it. Will I do it again? Nope. I'd rather sit for two hours in front of the castle to get good seats for the fireworks.

I've seen both the WDW and DL processions, and I think the DL event is much more special. Just the fact that Town Square has been transformed into giant stage with a human christmas tree is amazing. Yes, WDW has more abundant and comfortable seating, but it's "just another" show in a theatre. Seeing the Main Street Train Station all lit up with the trumpeters standing on the roof is much more unique. And what's a better backdrop for the actual procession than Main Street itself?

    Default dates yet?

Hey Doom, when do they usually release the dates for this event? I am going
Dec 2-4 and was hoping for light crowds. This event could mess that one up for me.

I love this event and heard a rumor that this year will be the last for Disneyland. Has anyone heard this terrible news and is it true?
