When I started this I didn't think it was done...
I found it amusing that he was retiring AGAIN.
almost like there should be a song

    "I retired today...So I could play with someone else...I retired today...so I could play with someone else...I retired today, now I am a JET...I retired today...now I am a VIKING..."

Enjoy minnesota fans...the FAVRE has come to town

    Cool

How's this for a scenario? Eagles and Vikings both make the playoffs (won't happen with Brett "The Interception Machine" Favre at the helm, I know, but let's pretend anyway) ...

Second to the last game of the season and McNabb goes down with an injury. First round of the playoffs, Eagles meet the Vikings and your match-up is Vick vs. Favre.

The media would have a field day!

The real NFL (National Fantasy League) is going haywire. People actually thought the man would stay retired. I check my old posts and I thought I made the prediction here about coming back during the Vikes bye week. But hey, it was all about not having to spend an extra 2 weeks with his new teammates he won't get to know anyways. Memo to Vikings fan... You're NOT going to the Super Bowl this year, Let alone even MAKE the Playoffs.

Favre will lead the team alright. In a revolt. By having the head coach lap (I mean pick) you up at the airport off the teams private jet and personally escort you to training camp. This sends the best kind of message to the team. You all play by these rules and Brett gets to play by his. I mean $12 mil? Are they nuts? Favre will have a great start to his season but by end of October when the playoff push starts his 40+ yr old body will not respond the way it used to.

When does this guy retire? In February when the previous season is right there in his consciousness. He just went thru 17 weeks and his body can't take it. He is worn down and physically exhausted. So thats why he quits. I get that its fresh and you want out. But something happens in the next 6 mos. His body starts healing and the weekly grind of pain goes away and he feels he can do this again. Enough already.

What I would like to happen is for him to have a press conference and nobody shows up. One last point for the Vikings fans out there...
Favre couldn't win in domes when he played for the Packers. Where are half of his games this year?

good luck with that circus Minnesota.

What got me rolling my eyes was the quote about his daughter... I mean maybe she really said that but I just felt like "Oh give me a break!" "..With tears in her eyes she said 'Daddy, I want you to win one more super bowl!' "

I have to ask ...But for all the Green Bay fans out there ...

But what sort of reception do you think Farve will get when he plays at Green Bay ?

Will it be a mixed reception or a total aggresive one ?

I think the answer will come when he throws 3 ints or 4 tds (or both ???). How well he plays in the game. How long before his arm/body takes a pounding...
by the way how good iss that O line at pass protection ? I know they are good for the running game...

I hope its an aggressive one - but there are too many "Brett" fans out there.....

This is how its goes around here - the people who are Packer fans 1st are really upset about this and feel like they have been betrayed - and are totally sick about this ego maniac; then there are the ones that are Brett Favre fans and think that he still can do no wrong and are still upset with the Packer's organization for letting Brett go in the 1st place. I have heard that husbands and wives will not be watching the games together - because one is a true Packers fan and the other is a "Brett" fan.

    Cool

I'm actually pretty surprised at how many people seem to think this is going to be good for the Vikes.

The guy had a 1 to 1 INT to TD ratio last year. That's horrendous. He's done. Washed up.

In fact, I don't ever think he was "all that" in the first place, but for the last 3 or 4 years he certainly hasn't even been a shadow of what people claim he was.

Here's my prediction for what happens ... the Vikes start off strong ... win maybe 4 or 5 of their first 6 or 7 games ... and then the wheels fall off.

It will be mixed. I grew up on the Packers and only live 15 minutes from Lambeau Field so I'm pretty much ground zero. In my office there are about 2/3 of us that are glad the Packers are rid of the Favre circus and 1/3 who think that Ted Thompson is the anti-Christ for not bringing Favre back.

Last year I was at the annual scrimmage, when Aaron Rodgers was announced the crowd booed him. Totally ridiculous. To be honest, I'm a huge Packer fan but there are many times I'm embarrassed to admit it just because we have so many homer fans.I have several friends who think Favre is the greatest QB ever to play the game. When I argue with them they will not listen to any arguments. These are the same guys who will cheer Favre and root for the Vikings this year.

They also claim that the only reason the Packers went to the NFC Championship just two years ago was because of Favre's play, weird that they don't look at his poor play in that game as the reason they didn't make the Super Bowl but I digress.

To make a long story, the crowd will be mixed with Packer vs. Favre fans. My personal thoughts, I hope the Packer's D knocks Favre silly in the game.

I remember watching Brett play several times in college. Southern Miss was in our conference (Memphis) and he was good. That seems like 10 lifetimes ago. It is amazing he is still playing all these years later and is still effective. I would love to have him qb my team if I were coaching. He is just one of those guys who knows how to win. All of that said I don't think he will retire for a few more years!
