Shower Wait Time

Just curious if there was generally a line for the showers at the bath houses? We will be staying in our pop up in the pop up/ tent loop (not sure the number) and while we have a porta potti, no shower. Is there usually a wait in the mornings? While a small wait is expected, I've been at some campgrounds where we wait an hour for a shower, and I've got to have my shower in the morning! We'll be there the 19th thru the 27th of April.

We stayed for 10 days and only one time did DS and I have to wait to shower. That was only a couple of minutes. DD and DW never had to wait. The bathrooms were immaculate and cool especially in the summer heat.

It's been a while since I camped there but I never remember having a wait. We were up pretty early most mornings so likely beat the morning rush.

Just about every camping loop has its own comfort station. A few of the loop share. The men's side has 4 showers. I assume the women's side has the same number. 3 are regular shower, with 1 being handicapped accessible.

Since so many more campers are bringing RVs with their own showers, the comfort stations are not as crowded as they once were - I am going back 30 years.

Every once in a while you might have a short wait during the morning rush. More times than not, you will have no wait at all.

we went for 9 nights and another time for 5 nights and neither time did we have to wait for a shower once. we did get up early though because we wanted to be out of the campground before the sun got overhead. this is a hard place to camp if you tent camp cause you need to plan around the heat of the day. its exhausting to work at the site if its already blazing.

I think a lot of it depends on timing. More people shower in the morning than other parts of the day. I usually like to shower at night before bed. Usually the showers are empty at that time.

We have never had a wait on the mens side, but I think sometimes my DW may have had to wait 10 or 15 minutes. Not bad at all.

We stayed for a week last October (FW was full) in our pop-up on the 1500 loop, which shares a comfort station with the adjoining loop. DW had the showers to herself. Me and the three boys on our trip never had to wait on a shower except for each other. Once or twice there might have been one shower in use when the 4 of us went to the showers.
I doubt they are ever all in once at use for very long. You should have no problem.

By the way, FW has the cleanest, nicest, most comfortable comfort staions of any campground, anywhere, and we've been tent and pop-up camping all over the US for 30+ years. They are the best.

We've never had to wait for a shower: even during spring break a couple years ago, the crowds at MK were crazy, but never a wait for a shower.

We used the showers on the 900-1000 loop comfort station last week with no waits. We went early (6:00 - 6:30am)

Each comfort station has 3 standard and 1 handicapped shower stalls on each side (mens and womens) The men's side has a long sink counter with 3 sinks, 2 urinals and 1 regular and 1 handicapped toilet. The women's side is the same except for 2 toilets in place of the urinals. Between the mens and womens side is a coin op laundry.

Like the others have said if you are an early riser you probably won't have to wait. During peak times around 8 or 9 a.m. you might find a line. Also they close in the mornings for cleaning but thats usually in the late mornings after 11:00 am. They usually have signs posted indicating the times.

If you don't mind a walk or taking a ride on your bike or golf cart, you can try another loop and hope its less busy. The other option is to shower later or at night.

The problem with staying in the Pop Up/Tent Loops are that very few campers have showers in their campers. We solved that problem by staying in a Preferred site (loop 100 is our fav). Since most of the campers there have their own bathrooms/showers, there is no wait for showers. It is a little more per night, but for where you are located and no wait at the bath house, we think its worth it.

The difference in cost between the pop-up/tent loops and the premium loops was over $60 per night. No way I'm paying 60 bucks just to avoid a possible wait for a shower. Besides when we were there the loops were full and we never had to wait for a shower anyway.

It really does depend on timing. My Disney Husband is 6 ft 5 and can't stand up in the RV shower so he always goes to the showers at Ft. Wilderness. My Disney sons do, too, because they like the space the showers provide. Hardly every have they had to wait.

Now if we could just say the same thing about the laundry facilities!!

Here's a good tip....we went in July '07 and stayed in loop 2000 (I think its the only loop that has tents and pop-ups) If you look on the map http://www.intercot.com/resorts/disn...ges/fwcg07.JPG we stayed in the top left corner of the loop, so that we had the comfort station for our loop close by, but not so close that there was always traffic walking by and the biggest bonus that there was a path leading to a huge field that also had its own comfort station. By about the 3rd day, we just always used the field one since nobody else seemed to know about it. We never had to wait for a washroom or shower stall ever. If you are camping in the summer, I would strongly recomend avoid using your portable toilet. It can only be more work in the long run emptying it out etc and the refreshing AC in the comfort station is a nice bonus.
