I feel bad for the folks loosing their jobs!
Never went there though - that part of DTD has no appeal to me, even less so with the closing of Pleasure Island.

that magnet store is the only reason we even GO to the west side! that store is a blast. im looking at my life-like donut magnet as i type this that i got from there. it is so ridiculous and fun. we get several new magnets each trip cause i mean, where else can you find life-like fried chicken legs to hang your grocery list onto your fridge with?

As pervious posters said...Feel sorry for the people losing their jobs. I wont miss it, I never had the urge to go there. Not to mention if I am buying CD's at Disney...It's going to be for Disney Music. I thought and I could be wrong that there was rumblings of AMC putting an IMAX theatre in that location. Then of course the ESPN Club also.

I must admit, the first thing I thought when I heard this was "Good, then my husband's suitcase won't be so heavy on the way home!" I don't think I'd go there, but he likes to go CD and movie shopping whenever we're in the States... there will probably be other international visitors who will miss it, too, but clearly not enough to keep it open!

I have shopped there in the past. My kids love it, it's a must stop whenever we go to DTD. We usually find some DVD or book that we haven't seen elsewhere.

But I do agree with most that this is not the kind of place you would go on vacation. And if they can't attract enough of a local crowd to shop there, it's wasting space.
Maybe they could put a Wal-Mart there!!! Boy, that would draw some crowds!

Obviously the Virgin Megastore will be missed by some.
Just a friendly reminder, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we all need to be respectful of that.

Honestly I am indifferent to the closing. I mean yes, it is horrible that people will lose their jobs, but the actual closing of the store means nothing to me. I am certain that I have gone in there, but have no memory of the store inside, so... no loss for me.

I enjoyed shopping at Virgin. I like being able to see the item, listen to some of the songs, and read the packaging. But the days of brick and mortar stores are ending as online retailing has become ever so popular.
Virgin had a lot of music that I could not find elsewhere and I would usually buy cd's of artists that I never heard of as I was able to peruse the product. You can do that online, but I like the atmosphere of being in the store. It's a shame to see that store go.
