Birthday Fun card

So, my Daughter will be turning 12 this year while we're at the DLR (28 days and counting!).
Since we've got AP's, I was reading that she could get a Birthday Fun Card (since the Free Admission on your birthday deal does not apply).
My question is, how/where do we get the card? Do we have to register online? Does it recognize her B-day when we pass through the turnstile?

I celebrated my birthday in Jan. at WDW. We have AP's also, so I opted for the birthday gift card. I did register online, printed the certificate and took it to the park to exchange for the gift card. I took it to the will call/customer service window at the park. It was very easy. All I needed was my drivers license and proof of park admission (my AP).

You can register online, or just go to he ticket booth/guest services window at the entrance. You will need an original or certified copy of your daughter's birth certificate to prove DOB.
