    Default Strollers and airplanes

I'm not getting any help from the airline... can I check a Sit n' Stand XL at the gate or will I have to check it with the luggage at the ticket counter? I'll be traveling with an infant and a toddler.

I'll also have an infant car seat with me - can I check that at the gate or will that have to be checked at the ticket counter?

The airline totally gave me the runaround when I called and online it says "umbrella" type strollers, but my infant can't be in one... arruuuggg!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't flown in a couple of years so the info I have might be dated. The stroller I used wasn't an umbrella stroller and I checked that at the gate, it did fold up though. I'm not sure about the car seat though sorry.

This year we had an umbrella stroller, but for 2 years before that we had one of the 3 wheel strollers that we took all the way up to the gate and folded with no problems.

For both United and American you can bring as large of a stroller as you need. You bring it all of the way with you. When you get to the gate ask the worker if you can have a stroller ticket. They take the stroller from you just as you board the plane. When you get off your stroller is magically at the gate for you to use!!!

Carseats...if you do not plan to use it on the plane it needs to be checked in with your luggage. Then you retrieve it the same way you do your luggage.

We have a Mountain Buggy double stroller which is rather large and we've always been able to check it at the desk, take it to the door of the plane and hand it off. We've flown Jet Blue & Continental. We use a bungy cord to make sure it doesn't open inadvertently.

We also used a sit & stand stroller our last trip to WDW and we gate checked it. Like a previous poster said, it was magically ready for us as soon as we exited the plane.

They don't count the carseats as one of your checked baggages, from my experience. It is a "free" bag.
