Default Two Birthdays, a new job, and two steps forward at long last! Pt 9

DH (Brian, aka CanadianWDWFan) – Celebrating his new job
Me (Jennifer, aka Mickey’sGIrl) – Celebrating my 41st birthday
    DS12 (Harry) – Celebrating his 12th birthday
DS6 (Euan) – Celebrating life, cuz it’s pretty good when you’re 6 and at Disneyworld!

    Day 9 – Saturday May 29

Today is our last whole day at Disney. We had an early morning breakfast reservation at Chef Mickey’s downstairs. Euan had been looking forward to this all week, and had taken the time to draw pictures of each of the guys we would be seeing in his sketchbook, so they could sign them. They were all so excited to see the work that he had done, and were more than happy to sign the drawings. We ate plenty, and had a really nice time.

After breakfast, we took the monorail over to Epcot to say goodbye. We went into the Living Seas and waited for Brian who had gone for Soarin’ fastpasses, before we rode the clamshells, then into Turtle Talk, where Crush had a bit of a discussion with Euan about surfing in Toronto. We took the time to look around the aquarium. Harry and Brian had done the AquaSeas tour last August, and Harry was quite excited to point things out to us. We rode Soarin’ again, and then over to Ellen’s Universe of Energy, which we hadn’t been on since Euan was a baby. I LOVE Bill Nye, and the kids really enjoyed the ride through time. We decided to take one more spin on Spaceship Earth before we headed out. As we were exiting, a huge rainstorm started to pour down on us. We were under cover, so we were all right.

Brian was quite excited that we got to ride on the TRON train back to the TTC, where we transferred to the Resort Monorail and around back to our hotel. We had to wait a bit for the rain to stop so the boys could go swimming, and we had a game of table tennis.

Later on, we took the Monorail back over to the Magic Kingdom, but got off at the Polynesian instead, as the rain started up again, heavier than ever. We went over to the Kona Cafe and were able to score a table for dinner. Harry was very happy to finally get some Sushi (he had the platter for 2). Dinner was terrific, and the rains were just spittles by the time we boarded the Monorail again for the Magic Kingdom. With happy tummies and sad hearts, we made our way through the turnstiles for the last time this trip. We wanted to hit some favourites and say goodbye – so we went on the Haunted Mansion, and the shooting gallery and then Pirates (still no wait) and then we took the Monorail back to the Contemporary. We went up to our room, and were able to watch Wishes from the stairway adjacent to our room. We could hear the soundtrack from the 4th floor terrace, and the view was just spectacular ... only, I couldn’t stay long due to Euan’s fireworks issues. Back in our room afterwards, we heard the Electrical Water Pageant, and were able to go out on to our balcony to comfortably watch the whole thing! And then we could see Illuminations off to the side too! What a stupendous room!

We organized our things for our departure in the morning. Our flight wasn’t until 11, so we didn’t need to leave before 7 and we didn’t need to get up too early.

How can your trip possibly becoming to an end already? At least you were able to make the most out of your day with a breakfast at Chef Mickey's & trips to both Epcot and MK. What a cool idea Euan had, drawing the characters so that they could autograph them!

Ellen's is another spot we usually get to visit each trip - thanks to the rain. I'm glad you were able to sit through a show with Bill, Ellen & Stupid Judy after all this time. At least the evening dried out enough to comfortably visit MK for one last trip.

Even though you had to quickly plan this holiday, it sure has turned out to be a gem!

What a perfect start to your last day... and what a great day! And to be able to watch the fireworks from your hotel, and the EP from your room... WAY too cool!

Aren't those goodbyes the worst?? You know they're coming, and you still enjoy the rides, but it's so hard, knowing it'll be awhile before your back. I always lose it the last time we see Illuminations during a trip...

So glad you guys had such a nice day, and such a great trip... I've loved going along with you through your trip reports!!

the EWP is so nice to see and from your room would be even better. I'm so glad your not getting up at the crack of before dawn.

    Cool

The last full day in WDW is so bitter- sweet, I know that I to absorb as much as I can to hold me over until our next visit.
What a great evening! Being able to take in all of the night time shows from the comfort of your resort, the view must have been spectacular.

We aren't keen on the Animal Kingdom, and our youngest son absolutely does not like it ... so we don't push it. We had intended to go to an evening EMH, but didn't get around to it! Maybe next time!
