    Default Organic Gardeners

My garden is not doing well this year...Next year we'll add a good compost to the soil but for this year - I need to help my poor vegetables.

Any organic gardeners out there that could direct me what to do this year? Plant are in but not happy.

It could just be this incredibly dry summer we're having. I don't care how much I water, it just never seems to help my garden thrive like rain!

You don't have to wait until next year to compost. Just top dress your plants now with some good quality compost. I buy mine at the local nursery, even though I have a compost pile. The pile never seems to make enough for my garden.

It would help to know what kind of soil you have (i.e. here in New England, we tend towards sandy, acidic soil). That way I might be able to suggest if you need to mix it up a bit with some nutrients or not.

You could probably do with some calcium (ground eggshells) or nitrogen in general. Fixes most ills for me. :-)
Next trip DLR in February 2014
