    Default Favorite Romance Movies

What is your favorite romance movie of all time? I love Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma...basically anything Jane Austen! But I also love Beauty and the Beast, Bright Star, Titanic, and countless others. What tops your list?

I haven't seen that but now I want to. Adding that to my list, thanks!

I also love most Nicholas Sparks movies!

I have a ton, in no particular order- A Walk To Remember, Dear John, Sleepless In Seattle, While You Were Sleeping, You've Got Mail, Runaway Bride, 13 Going On 30 (not necessarily a "romance movie" but I love how the characters grew up together) The Proposal, My Life In Ruins, The Wedding Planner, The Holiday, The Notebook.... Basically any romantic comedy

I am sure there are more, but all I could think of off the top of my head.

"The Clock." It's a little known Judy Garland movie from the 40's and it's the only non-musical film Judy made while at MGM. She plays a young single girl in NYC and meets a handsome GI on 2-day leave when they literally bump into each other. They fall in love and the rest is history. They race against the clock to get married before he has to depart to go back to Europe. I suggest it to anyone who needs a good laugh and a good cry.

Definitely The Holiday. Love that movie. I also like Words and Music. Very cute and makes you feel good. And, of course, You've Got Mail. I practically have that movie memorized.

Even though I don't like Hilary Swank, I love Gerard Butler enough to tolerate P.S. I Love You. It's grown on me a lot.
I also love The Phantom of the Opera! I recently saw it on tour and my love for it just expanded so much after seeing it live!

Oh my! Me too! I always get teary when I hear the music. John Barry is a romantic genius especially when he incorporated Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Ah, I'm getting chills just thinking about it.

Pride and Predjudice with Colin Firth is another top favorite and Chocolat with Carrie-Anne Moss and Johnnie Depp.

    There are many, many others...

We vacationed at The Grand last August. They show that movie there at least once a week, but I didn't get a chance to see it. I love Mackinac Island and I can't wait to get back. Michigan is beautiful.

Anyway, I'm more of a romantic comedy fan than a straight sappy romance fan. So here is my partial list, as I'm sure I'm forgetting something, not listed in any preferential order -

First, there's the Meg Ryan rom com trilogy -
    When Harry Met Sally
    Sleepless In Seattle
    You've Got Mail

Then, the Jane Austen classics -
    Pride & Prejudice
    Sense & Sensibility
Persuasion (more of a straight romance)

    Then the Before duo -
    Before Sunrise
    Before Sunset

    Then the rest -
    Amelie
    Sixteen Candles
    While You Were Sleeping
    Love Actually
    My Big Fat Greek Wedding
Connie & Carla (although more of a comedy than a rom com)
    It Happened One Night
    Pillow Talk
Charade (not quite a rom com)
    Bridget Jones's Diary
    Groundhog Day
    The Princess Bride
    Notting Hill
Still Breathing (more of a romance)
    Much Ado About Nothing
Italian for Beginners (it's a Danish film)

There were a couple of others that I didn't include because they might not pass muster with the moderators, like some Kevin Smith films (which are great, by the way, both the moderators and the movies).

I'm not much for "girly" movies, but there are a few that I like:

    When Harry Met Sally
The Lake House (loved the little time travel twist)
My Big Fat Greek Wedding (hilarious!)
Casablanca (doesn't have the guy-gets-girl ending, but it's still sooo romantic!)

    -The Notebook

    -Beauty and the Beast

    You've Got Mail
    Love Actually
    A Walk to Remember
    The Notebook
    Bridget Jones's Diary
    Sleepless in Seattle
Sense & Sensibility (Emma Thompson version)

    Smile

I love romantic movies, comedies or dramas, I love them all.
Top of my list is Love Actually. When I finish watching this my cheeks are wet and my face hurts from smiling.
Others I can watch over and over are When Harry met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, The Notebook and A Walk in the Clouds.
