Default Plan of attack for US/IoA please

We've been a couple of times but not for awhile so would love some help planning our strategy for our late July trip.
We will have access to both parks with our passes and are staying at the RP for one night only. Unless things have changed, that should translate to 2 days front of line benefits.
Please tell me if you see any flaws with my logic:
Day 1: We will arrive noon or earlier so don't anticipate getting our room right away but plan to go to US and ride all our favorites, return to hotel mid afternoon to check in and clean up a bit, then head to IoA to ride fol of all we can and then late-ish (maybe 3 hrs. before closing?) in the day stand in line for HP.
Day 2: Early entrance to park to stand in line for HP again? Return to hotel for check out
then use fol benefit for in both parks for anything we've missed or want to repeat.

Remember you can check in to RP as soon as you arrive and get the front of line access the entire time. If the rooms not ready when you arrive you can get the room number later. HP that first evening sounds great as there have been many great report about how great this section looks after dark. Definately do HP the first thing the next morning.

Thanks to both of you. We are getting so excited-- DD has been blessed with the opportunity to spend some time in Germany and Austria this summer. She's loved it but guess you can't take the Orlando out of the girl completely--one of her photos is of a hooded statue which she entitled an escaped dementor
