Kali is a kind of luck of the draw thing...sometimes you get drenched and sometimes you come out with just a few sprinkles...all depends on which side of the raft goes first down the hill.

Rarely get soaked on it. I've been on it in the past when I hardly got sprinkles of water on me. In that way, it does not compare favorably to the Popeye/Bluto Barges over at Universal's Islands of Adventure. The 4 times I have been on that, everyone on the boat with us was soaked.

We have only ridden it twice. We don't ride it anymore because my beloved wife and daughters don't like to get wet. They always got soaked.

I, on the other hand, came off bone dry both times. Well, maybe slightly damp in a few places.

If we ride this, we save it for our last ride of the day. That way if we get soaked (which usually happens to us) we can just head back to the resort and change. I hate to walk around in wet clothes even in hot weather. I've gotten soaked and the person sitting one over from me hardly got wet at all. I'm not sure how that happens! I never seem to be that lucky.

I have video on YouTube of my kids getting soaked on this ride. They were the ones facing backwards when we went down. They got hammered. It was awesome. Do a search for "Kali River Rapids - Animal Kingdom". It should feature a cute blonde DD wearing a Virginia Tech shirt and a redheaded DS. It's at about the 1:45 mark.

They were actually a lot wetter than it looks in the video.

I love getting soaked, but it's hit and miss, I'm afraid. This last trip DW got drenched by one of the underwater water cannons at the beginning. That being said, in October some of the water elements may be toned down depending on the temperature (they do this on SM too).

We've never worried about ponchos or anything like that, we just accept that it's a water ride and there's a good chance we'll get wet. In the Florida heat this is often quite welcome so as long as you're wearing clothes that will dry quickly there isn't too much to worry about.

Admittedly I rarely seem to get too wet on water rides*. My mum on the other hand will get soaked absolutely every time. The trick is not to sit next to her, though then again the time I did the water all still seemed to go straight for her and mostly leave me alone.

    * Of course now I've jinxed it and when we go in a few weeks I'll get soaked on every ride... including the non-water rides somehow!

This is absitutly, poxativly right. Last ride of the day so if someone gets soaked it's back to the resort for a change.

The poncho approach just doesnt work. Did you every go camping and have a flash flood hit your tent? That's a poncho if you hit a wave just right on KRR.

And kids will walk around in wet socks inside sneakers 'til their feet fall off without complaining.

It my view, with KRR, it's better to plan to get soaked than to try to stay dry.

It's Disney World! Ride the ride, Laugh, tease and heckle Mom for looking like a drowned rat. Make a photo of her... Then go back to the room, change clothes and eat steak.

My kids love this ride, so I don't have much choice but to go on it. We usually end up getting soaked. I think you are very lucky if you do not get wet on this ride. It is alot of fun.

What I think is funny about these types of rides is people still ask this question. I rode this type of ride back in the mid 80s on a high school trip. I got soaked then and I would get soaked now.

The whole point of this ride is to get soaked wearing your clothes. To give an experience one normally doesn't have.

I have never and will never wear a poncho, green garbage bag, rain suit, bathing suit or scuba gear when going on this ride. And, I will snicker at those I see wearing them.

If I get wet, I get wet. (or soaked as it may be...) That is the whole fun of the ride.

I've only ridden once. My mom and I were the only ones to get completely soaked, everyone else just got a small splash.

I used to think like this until I went this past March. It was so cold out and walking around wet when it was 60 degrees didnt sound so fun...so ponchos it was! My next trip is 3 weeks from now and I am sure I will welcome a good soaking in the Aug heat!!

I've gotten soaked about half of the times I've ridden. Sometimes I want to get more wet than I do!

In general, I wear flip flops to any park where water is a possibility, and have the poncho for the times I want to ride water rides (splash and kali) but not get wet. I find the ponchos particularly useful at magic kingdom because at night, when it cools off, the lines for splash can be non-existant (depending on the time of year of course).

We wear ponchos and make sure to tuck them up under your legs good and tight! You may get wet a little if you are on the downhill side, but it is much better than getting SOAKED

No Giggy I'm sure I will forever be the one in our family to always get soaked. You should be quite safe. I will continue to be the water magnet and no one will want to sit next to me.

Every time I have been on it I have been soaked down to my underwear! In fact the last time we rode it my kids were chanting in line, "mom's gonna get it! Mom's gonna get wet drawers again! LOL And sure enough I did. I had to buy shorts after that ride because even though it was hot I stayed dripping for hours! I remember they used to have hand dryer machines in the bathroom by that ride but not anymore. Only papertowels.

The first time we went after Kali opened, we rode 6 times in a row. I always get soaked on water rides, but I managed to stay completely dry the first 5 times, but after the sixth time, I was so soaked it was crazy. It really varies ride to ride.
