"Dream" Close to Float Out

Dream is rapidly reaching the point where she is ready to be floated outside the assembly building. That is scheduled to occur on October 30th. Then final assembly will take place, and the ship will be ready for sea trials.

In the meantime, she's now "official", and there is no longer any question as to which character will be the "artist" painting the name on the stern ~~

I cannot wait to sail her. I will be on the Christening Cruise 1/19-21 and then the Earmarked Convention Cruise 1/23-26. I have a brand new Nikon I need to learn and will hopefully get pictures up late on the 21st so y'all can see them!

Big day tomorrow!

Dream will be floated out of the drydock to a nearby pier, where work will continue on the interior and those exterior parts that couldn't be done in the confines of the drydock building.

I'll be watching for pictures/videos of the float out and will post them here.

I saw some pictures online last night as well... she truly is a beautiful ship! Time to start saving those pennies, nickels and dimes (quarters are for laundry around here ).

I've seen some videos on YouTube, a clip from a German news channel and the same photo album from which Ed posted above. The Dream is truly a beautiful ship, and SURPRISE her horn plays "A dream is a wish your heart makes."

The Dream is truly a beautiful ship, and SURPRISE her horn plays "A dream is a wish your heart makes."

There seems to be some confusion in that regard. Other sources reported that the horn plays the Magic/Wonder "When You Wish Upon A Star", and can also play the next line of that song, "Makes No Difference Who You Are". But on the videos of the float out, you can clearly hear "A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes".

So, it's either (1) the Magic/Wonder horn report was erroneous, or (2) the ship has some sort of programmable horn, capable of playing different tunes. I tend to think option #2 is the most likely scenario.

Now, we can only hope and pray that they don't program it to play a certain tune greatly loved <<insert sarcasm here>> tune...
