Valet Parking and Tipping

Is valet parking still $12.00 for the day?

Also...how much and when do you usually tip?

When you drop off...when you pick up...both??

I don't valet park, but when I return a rental to the guys outside The Dolphin, I give $2.

For a short stay, just for dining, I tip $1 or $2 both ways...
I also tip the valet at the Dolphin when returning a rental car.

When I valet: I usually give $2 when I pick my car up.

I will walk around my car looking for dents before taking the keys. If my car has been banged up. I will not tip.

I am short, so I know they have to move my seat to drive my car. If they don't move my seat back forward for me. I will not tip.

NOTE: There have been cases where there would be 10-15 cars stacked up waiting to be parked. The valets would take the keys and just move the car a few feet down the drive. Once, they asked me to come from behind the desk and help "valet park" cars. Since it is a different classification, I could not be ordered to do so. So I thought, why not. Well, it turned out I was only parking cars that had been staged/moved by valets. They got the tip, I got a work out. I learned.

If my car were "banged up", not only would I NOT tip, I would be pi$$ed off. I'd have the management involved so fast....

It has happened. And what is worse is there is hardly no way to prove the dent wasn't there before you had it valeted. It gets ugly real fast. If you have an accident report made on-site the insurance companies can then battle it out.

1) I do the "rental car review" thing.
2) I take the valet and we walk around the car.
3) Then, on the ticket, I print "No Damage".
4) I have him/her initial it.
5) If I have a ding, it is easy to prove their fault.

NOTE: We do this at EVERY valet, Disney or not. I once saved a major repair bill by doing this on a rental car. And, it got me a minor ding repair from a valet on my own car once.

Thank you (Köszönöm) for that! I valet frequently at the casinos. I had never thought to do that.
