Default Mickey's Toontown Fair to Close February 11, 2011

Reading on the net today that the last day of operation for Mickey's Toontown Fair will be February 11, 2011.

Mickey, Minnie and the Princesses will begin appearances soon after at Exposition Hall.

Tinkerbell meet 'n greet will move to Hollywood Studios and the remaining fairies will make appearances at Epcot tied to the Flower & Garden Festival.

Railroad will remain operational, but Toontown stop will be closed.

Pictures of the final operating day can be found here:

Character Cast have reported that the official start date for the Mickey Mouse/Minnie Mouse, Disney Princess, Tinker Bell, and Disney Fairies Meet & Greet locations is "Spring 2011".

Character Cast have reported that the Disney Fairies Meet & Greet may last longer than the Epcot Garden & Flower Festival, but this has not been confirmed.

Cast have also reported that Mickey, Minnie, and the Princesses will have temporary Meet & Greet locations at the Magic Kingdom starting February 12 until the semi-permanent location in Exposition Hall opens in the Spring.

Oh no, my youngest was hoping for one last trip through Mickey and Minnie's houses in March. Oh well, glad we took the time to see them both in June and in Oct. Any word on if the houses will ever find a new home somewhere on property?

WAHOO! February 11th is my first day at the MK so we'll definitely take lots of photos on Toontown's last day. As excited as I am to see the changes, it's always sad to see something go.

Now all we need is Adventureland and Tomorrowland updated and the Magic Kingdom will be perfect. 2030 should be a good year

Any chance there will be a re-theming of Goofy's barnstormer to fit the expansion? If not, that would be a real shame as that is the only kid-oriented coaster in all of WDW.

No way to know for sure but, when we did a tour that included a part of Toontown last year, the cast member conducting the tour indicated the plan was to keep Goofy's Barnstormer but indicated it would, indeed, be rethemed.

Yes, that's been the plan all along, although there have been many different themes suggested. Last one I believe thrown out there was still Goofy related with a circus theme.

The current rumor is Barnstormer will rethemed to The Great Goofini. Google Great Goofini. There was once a children's book written about the Great Goofini. This fits perfect into Circusland. This also proves to me the area will not be Dumbo's Circus as once believed, but a larger circus themed area. And this also means, in my opinion anyway, the rotting circus tents in Toontown will be replaced. BLAH.
Let's stop defending mediocrity out of Disney and hold Disney to the higher standard they set up themselves.

Well, if they need a back story, this fits the theme.

I have this book. Titled "Hunt for The Great Goofini", it's part of the Look and Find series.
In the book, Goofy is a missing Magician from the County Fair. Not much of a story, but kids love searching for Goofy and all the other items. The book was published in 1993.
I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.

My mom will be in mourning for a little while after tomorrow...she loves Toontown, especially the houses. She would move into Minnie's house and live there if she could! I'm a little sad to see Toontown go, but more excited to see what's going to be in its place soon!

My oldest loved walking through the houses when he was younger. We are all excited about the changes. I cannot wait for Beauty and the Beast. Change is good. Right???

I'm now sort of disappointed in myself that I didn't give Mickey's Toontown Fair one last walk-through when I was down there. Sure, it's not quite aimed at my demographic, but I feel like I should have at least stopped by at least once more before it was gone forever.

Good thing the new Fantasyland is going to be amazing.

You know I sort of feel the same way.

It was never an area that appealed much to us in recent years (DD was too old for Princesses and DS was a bit too young to care), but when DD was young she had a great time in there. I wish we had gone through one last time and taken some pics and looked around.

Don't know why we didn't really ... I think I just sort of forgot it was closing down so soon.

It is also the only roller coaster that is really MY speed...glad to hear there are at least rumors of it being re-themed and staying.

Not rumors, it's fact. It will be re-themed the Great Goofini, and fit in with the circus theme planned for that area.
