Oh, that was exquisite! And that at 15 minutes they still had half of the hair left on their upper bodies!

I cried out in pain right along with them. They made it look like torture! Sadly, that was the highlight of the episode for me.

    Default My thoughts...

I watched last night (managed to not have it spoiled-probably bc it was so boring huh?) I was just ok with it sort of like everyone else. I really wanted J&Z to win, then I was pulling for Gary and Mal, but I didn't want the Globetrotters to win so I guess I was ok with it. One less show to DVR each week...

Default I guess it was a fitting end to this season (lame)

Once Zev and Justin were eliminated I really didn't care that much who won. I guess Gary & Mallory would have been my first choice, Keisha and Jen 2nd and Trotters last. Keisha and Jen were probably the most deserving of the final 3 teams, but they were also the most boring.

Only fitting that the Trotters ended their Race by copying another team one last time. I don't recall in any season previous to this one where any team in the final 3 task was able to copy another team's work (Jamie helped Luke in season 14 - Luke didn't just walk over and peek at hers or Viktor's surf boards). So I guess it was double fitting, Trotters copying and another poor set up of a task. They could have either changed each teams pictures slightly, using the same props but different placement, or they simply could have had the teams assemble the trailers in locations not near each other.

The forklift roadblock was nothing more than a time consumer. It really didn't appear that, with the supervisor on hand, that anything could really go wrong and I doubt that any team could have made up or lost time to another team. What they could have done was make it harder to find the boat, maybe they have to find a boat with a certain country flag or even the Race flag on it, that's what I thought they were going to do when I saw all those boats. But nope, just drive here, lift boat, place boat, leave.

Underwater scuba/sub - again really not much more than a time consumer. It wasn't that big of an area and again it didn't really require any type of skill set and it appeared that teams probably took about the same amount of time to complete it.

Walk to horseshoe island - also called "me walk to the fridge" as I have no idea what the purpose of that was.

Final task - would have prefered some kind of mental challenge, as it was it was kind of lame and for me ruined when one team could simply copy anothers work.

The final bike sprint. Didn't like it. If a team like say Ron & Christine or Mike & Mel or Marjorie and Luke were in it, in a close finish, none of them would win, it was too geared towards athletic teams.

Basically the whole final leg felt like slight of hand. Run here, go here, walk here, drive here, it was a lot of running around that really amounted to nothing, nothing really changed from the moment teams arrived at the boatyard to the point that teams arrived at the trailer park. Gary & Mallory lost the Race on the cab ride from the airport to the boat yard. There was no opportunity that I could see for them to make up the lost ground.

I still love the show and can't wait to hear Phil's opening "The world is ready.." again in the fall. But season 18 for me was a pretty remedial dumbed down season with good locations and tasks and legs that were designed poorly.

Favorite moment in the season - seeing Justin round the corner of the barn with Kynt and Vyksen in the background leaning on the barn waiting out their penalty and then having Phil Philiminate the Goths once and for all.

Amazing Race Australia started a couple weeks ago, same show, but only $250,000 Australian. I gotta see if this is where people claimed see TAR contestants in Disney World.

It loses a little in the translation, but it does provide a TAR fix.

It just ended, no USA visits. Not sure what people saw at WDW that appeared to be filming for TAR, but it doesn't seem to be official.

Looks like the US version starts up again 9/25/2011.
