Fire at WDW Tiki Room

Per Channel 13 new in Orlando, there was a fire today at the Tiki Room:

Glad to hear there were no injuries!
Kind of strange to have 2 fires in 2 different Orlando Parks in such a short period of time. Makes me wonder if the crowds and capacity issues had something to do with both of them considering the timing of them.

Updated report from Orlando Sentinal says the Tiki Room is the only attraction affected and it's the only attraction to remain closed as of 8pm. The fire was in the attic area of the attraction and was extinguished by the sprinkler system before firefighters even arrived. No word on the extent of damage or how long it will remain closed.

Thanks for the update. While many people pass this attraction to get to other attractions it is a staple to visit on each one of our trips.

So glad no one was injured. I wonder what caused it - since it's an old attraction, could the wiring be old and faulty? And the worrier in me has come out - is there more than one way out of this attraction?? Never imagined I'd be afraid to go in the Tiki Room!

There are several fire exits in all the attractions.
I always find it amusing to see the lit signs in the dark rides.

No need to worry - its required by law to have more than one exit and cannot be more than a certain distance from each other. I work for another amuesment park company - its scary when this happens - however the staff is completely trained on how to evacuate properly and what to do in these types of situations. With the amount of training we go through - I'm sure Disney does the same - if not more.

Reading all the hate on the New Management makes me wonder: Did you guys ever see the original show? I did, and it's BOOOOORRiiiiiinnnnngg. Saw it at DL. Then saw the new version at WDW and thought it was great. It actually had entertainment value from a Disney perspective. Then went back to DL where the original still exists. Guess what - still boring and dull and not entertaining. Still a bunch of birds that kids don't care about.
