    Default commuting to work

This morning I was watching "Hidden Potential" on HGTV, and this couple was looking for a house in the Baltimore area. Their commute would be about 1 hour, got me wondering what kind of commute you all have. Husband and I live about 2 minutes from our work.

DH & I both work for the same company...actually, in the same department but I'm on the business side and he's in IT. We have a 45 minute commute (in good weather & traffic) to Downtown Columbus, OH. We used to live closer, but wanted to have some land in the country. We've done the commute for 17 years now and really don't even give it a second thought any more.

I'm about 15 minutes - 25 or so if the weather is bad. It's not too bad at all, especially if I get a call from school that one of the kids is not feeling well.

I'm about 15 miles from my office, and I drop the kids off at their bus stop along the way in the morning. That 15 miles can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour, depending on weather.

Favorite time of the year to commute is the summer!!! Traffic is so light.

My husband commutes 30 minutes and complains every night. I don't listen anymore. 1/2 hour isn't half bad and HE knows it!!! He also works the nightshift, so there is no one out, it's a all out driving commute.

I have an hour commute. I used to have a 30 minute commute, but my company went through a merger, and my lab had to move further down the road.

It takes me 45 minutes to an hour to get to work in the morning and a little longer in the evening. However this can go up to and hour and a half when the Edinburgh festival and fringe is on. All those lovely tourists on the bus.

About 40-45 minutes. I'm used to it now. I'd love to be closer, but I love where I live, the school system, etc.

For me it is about 40-45 minutes each way about three times a week. The rest of the week it is about 30 seconds. (The time it takes to walk down the stairs! I love telecommuting!) I'm fortunate to be able to work 1/2 of the week from home.

My commute is only about 12-15 minutes, depending on the traffic. DH does the park and ride route, as he works in downtown Houston. His total commute time is about 45 minutes to an hour.

Ok, I'll be the Sad Sack. My commute is 30 minutes by car, then 90 minutes by commuter bus, for a total of 2 hours ... each way.

That's what happens when you live in southern Maryland but your work takes you to downtown Washington DC.

My office is roughly 42 miles away from my house, which means an 84 mile round trip commute every day.

Fortunately, it's almost all highway and most days it's 45 minutes to get in in the morning and an hour to get home at the end of the day. All depends on when I leave, but typically the worst I do is like 75 minutes.

I do it happily, though ... I love my job!

The school I work at is less than a mile from my house.

My DH works all the way across town, so it's about a 45 minute one-way commute for him. Luckily he's in a van pool though.

    Cool

My commute is pretty average, I guess. 25-30 minutes each way, a mix of highway and side roads. Nothing to complain about for sure!

I will sit next to you, my fellow Sad Sack.

I go to school 2 days/week and I have an internship the other 3.

My intership commute: an hour on the train and a 25 minute walk to the office. There is a bus, but I timed it, and it only gets me in the office 8 minutes sooner. I rather like the walk, except when it's frigid.

My school commute: if I drive, an hour and 15. But I can't always drive, because parking is so tight. If you're not there by 8 AM, forget about free parking!

If I take the train, three hours. I have to take a train into the city, get off, then walk about 25 minutes to another train line, wait another 40 minutes for a train and sit on the train for 18 minutes.

I get a lot of my studying done on the train.

I graduate in 13 weeks. This, too, shall pass...

    (And I hope I can find a job! )

Now that we have a lot of construction going on on our freeway, it takes me about 30 minutes to get to work. When I come home, though, it's about a 15-20 minute drive.
