    Exclamation 405 Freeway Closure

The 405 Freeway will be closed for major construction in both directions from U.S. Route 101 to Interstate 10 from July 15 through 18, 2011. All Disneyland Resort guests should avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Carmageddon as it is called here is coming. They have had the freeway signs advertising it for the past month as well as tv, radio and even twitter.

Thank goodness I take the 5 or 101/5 freeways to get to the magic.

So tired of hearing about this. The 405 freeway barely moves when it is open anyhow. GRRRRR!

We are going on Saturday from just south of you. I usually take the 5 to the 101. I may take the 210 to the 605 and then back to the 5. At 6:30am I don't think the traffic will be that bad.

You could even try the 210 to the 2 and meet up with the 5. Although there may be a little residual traffic cause where the 2 and 5 meet is also the transition to the 10. But at 6:30 am you should breeze thru

This news just reached me and I'm driving down on Sunday. Could anyone give me an idea how bad I-5S will be? I'm not that familiar with the LA area. We were planning to leave Sacramento at 6am which normally would put us at DL by 1pm. How much extra time should I allow to get through the additional traffic?

If you find the traffic getting heavy after you leave the Santa Clarita area. Take the 210 freeway to the 605 south. It will connect up again with the 5 south. Another option if the line for the 5 is jammed. Stay on the 605 to the 91 east. The 91 east will connect up with the 5 south. That area is not too far from Disneyland Drive.

We survived the drive to DL and back. No traffic problems on the way down at 6:15am. Coming back I heard there was light traffic. I took the 5 north and there was the usual slow downs before the 605. From there on it was smooth sailing home.

A big thank you to everyone who stayed home / shopped locally. My commute all weekend rocked! We should have CarmaHEAVEN at least once a month.
