Default Rise of the Planet of the Apes

    In theaters August 5.

    From IMDB:

"An origin story set in present day San Francisco, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy."

Anyone else excited to see this?

I actually want to see this. I love the original version but really didn't like the re make so I am interested to see how this has been handled.

Having a hard time persuading my sister to go with me because she disliked the originals and really disliked the remakes. She says can't stand any film that contains a paradox. Strange logical sister.

I am definitely interested. At first I wasn't sure but the whole aspect of Caesar being raised with humans and then being taken away and mistreated, and what he does as a result, is one that piques my interest. I saw the original Planet of the Apes once and did not see any other in the Apes franchise so I'm going into this with a pretty open mind.

Well I wasn't interested with the original trailer I saw at the theatre, but we saw a different trailer yesterday, and it gave a bit more story with it ... and now I am interested. I don't know if we will see it, but it is now a good possibility (especially with James Franco in it )

All I can say is that this movie looks freaky. I'm not a fan of the POTA series, therefore I won't be seeing this one. It just seems unnatural to see a group of monkies with people faces taking over the city :/
"When hinges creak in doorless chambers... and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls.. whenever candlelights flicker... where the air is deathly still... that is the time when ghosts are present... practicing their terror with ghoulish delight."

The is a prequel to the original stories as far as I know and had nothing to do the the horrible remake.

A fresh take on an old movie....probably see it, looks interesting.

Can't wait for Hollywood to start coming up with fresh ideas and stop re hashing and restarting every franchise.

Their filming Total Recall right now, and destroying traffic in Toronto. Only got stuck in it once though.

I saw a making of on HBO the other night and this is being done by the CGI group in New Zealand that did Lord of the Rings. Andy Serkis who was gollum in LofTR is once again donning the motion capture suit to potray Cesar. When I saw the trailers I was a bit interested but wasn't planning on seeing it due to memories of the horrible Conquest of the Planet of the Apes and Marky Mark's reboot. But after watching the making of it looks like they have made another giant leap in motion capture and this should be be a fun summer blockbuster to catch at of our Drive In's double feature.

Saw it this weekend. Amazing. Very sad in parts. Well done and you actually care about the computer generated apes.

    Two thumbs up.

It looks good, but it also looks a little scary and sad to me. So I am on the fence. Will probably wait and watch it at home.

I saw this movie over the weekend -- and I liked it! SHOCKED -- but it was very entertaining. It was sad that James Franco was out acted by a CGI chimpanzee -- man he's rough.
