For all of those who said POR, tell me why! We'll be staying there for the first time next month.

I've heard so many people say they just love it, then others say the opposite, so I'm interested in hearing everything about it.

fyi, my family loves New Orleans, so that's one of the attractions for us. We also are hoping to stay in Magnolia Bend, which is more our "style" than Alligator Bayou.

How easy is it to walk over the POFQ? Looking forward to some beignets!

    Thanks!

Grand Floridian.....the 3 times that we stayed there were so awesome. Plenty of room to share with others. I love being out on your balcony and hearing all the sounds from the MK.

I actually answered Wilderness Lodge, but I certainly am a huge fan of POR.
First of all, it's a very "homey" and inviting resort with a LOT of back story. There's actually a whole unofficial website on that subject.

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace, and I thought the "mansions" were very cool, but would love to stay at the more "rustic" A. Bayou next time, because the interior decor reminded me of WL.

The food court was good, and though crowded at times, served well our "home base" when we arrived, got up in the morning, or got back from the parks at night. I thought the "create your own pasta" station was the highlight.

We enjoyed a horse and buggy ride at POR, which also goes through POFQ. To do this, you should have a reservation and it costs $$, but I thought it was a nice way to get acquainted on our first night.

Boatwright's was one of the best meals we had all week, and an almost unexpected highlight and surprise.

My kids loved Old Man Island, which houses the main pool. We also used the pool at FQ (you're allowed) and to answer your question, yes, it was very easy to walk over there! You can also take the boat over, but we walked because the boat wasn't running for some unexplained reason. Other times we tried to take the boat, it was shut down because of thunderstorms. It seemed to be the theme of our week.

The arcade was one of the best in WDW.

River Roost is a nice lounge, and Fulton's a good place to shop.

POR is simply a lovely place to explore. If you are an early riser or a night owl, I'd recommend a leisurely stroll at daybreak or late at night.

I think that covers most of it. I hope that helps!

I haven't stayed anywhere other than POR. We were in AB and it always seemed like we were the only ones there. Very pretty and private. The boat ride to DD was relaxing and beautiful. Boatwrights was delicious. And you can't forget about Piano Bob! The kids asked for months after we left last year if we could go back just to see him. Very entertaining!
