One More Disney Day: Updated with More Details

Not sure if this is already being discussed but I didn't see it so here goes!!

Whats up with the big announcement on 12/31/11? A new Disney Day? Anyone have any info or intuitions as to what this is all about? I am guessing something to do with a new "theme" for 2012?

come on - someone out there has to know something!!! Its killing me! We are leaving for the world on 1/6 and I am wondering if whatever it is will be in place while we are there!!!

It's regarding the new theme for 2012. Don't know a lot of the details, but that's what it's surrounding. New ways to "celebrate" in 2012 at the parks.

Since parts of the new Fantasyland are opening this year I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of tie-in there.

Disneyland and WDW are supposedly staying open for 24 hours on February 29th, Leap Day... Their new yearly celebration or promotion is supposedly MORE MAGIC in 2012... There may also be some sort of Give a Day, Get a Day promotion or some sort of Give a Disney Day promotion again... It's not going to be any big announcement so Intercotees DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get your hopes up for anything major...

Easy enough guess... Like I said, the plan is for at least Magic Kingdom in WDW and Disneyland to be open 24 hours on February 29th...

Again, not a huge announcement... I said not to expect anything huge... Expecting something big is only setting yourself up for disappointment...

Maybe all parks will be open earlier/later instead of like the EMH were a certain park is open earlier/later on a certain day.

I mentioned something above about part of their promotion for 2012... something about getting an extra day free, but what the specifics are going to be, I don't know... that along with staying open 24 hours on February 29th and maybe a little sneak peak into new fantasyland and storybook circus, and there is your announcement... Nothing earth shattering... Just trying to make sure Disney fans do not expect a major announcement when there isn't one coming... Not yet anyway...

Read some other sites... People actually thought the Disney Christmas parade on TV was good... There are still too many pixie dust sniffers who think anything Disney does is awesome...

And there are others who have decided it's cool to be cynical about everything Disney does. Personally, I'll take the pixie dust sniffers. At least they always enjoy themselves and are happy with Disney instead of griping about everything.

I really don't care what the announcement is. I'll take it for what it is - a marketing ploy. If it's something cool that excites me, that's great. If not, no big deal. Doesn't mean I don't like Disney or that they've lost their touch. I don't go for the marketing ploys. There are some things TDO has let slip. Those I notice, and mention. Most of my CM and Imagineering friends are all too aware of those slips and aren't happy about them and are pushing the brass to do something about it. But, overall Disney is still a magical place, and part of that is the attitude you take when you go.

Got to go along with Chris (strmchsr) here and get my morning sniff of Pixie Dust!!

Looking at the pre-promotion for "One More Disney Day," however, seems to revolve around 2012 being a Leap Year, giving one and all one more day to spend at a Disney Park.

I would not be surprised, and would be very happy, to find other little surprises throughout the year, but, as I have heard here and elsewhere, I don't expect any more than the 24-hour park hours on Feb. 29th.

I dunno ... I come down somewhere in the middle between cynical and pixie dust sniffing.

It's one thing to say you're not going to nit pick every little thing Disney does, but it's another entirely to turn a blind eye to their faults and let them continue to deliver you less for more without voicing your displeasure. I think that's where I draw the line.

Just saw the teaser on the Disney website for the big reveal on the 31st...It was pretty much just clocks and it said "more time"...so I'm assuming they are expanding park hours for 2012??
