I rented for our stay this past Oct and it went great. Got a fantastic price to stay at AKV. Waaaayyy cheaper then booking thru Disney. We added the DP with no problem also. The person I rented from just forwarded all of my confirmation emails once she received them. The only downfall to renting is alot of renters want full payment up front, which can be a problem for some.

Forgot to add that we are arriving in under 2 wks at AKV and are again renting points, but from a different person. I had originally booked POR with a passholder discount but am now paying less per night to stay at AKV.
Most renters will give you an option of signing a contract.

If you rent from the Timeshare Store or from and owner do they have the same unit everytime they book or can it be anywhere on property?

That's not quite how DVC works. You don't have a specific room for a specific week. When you rent points, the member (I am one) would make the reservation to you, and it's somewhat similar to making a hotel reservation, but with some twists (I won't get into any of those, I'm still rather new myself).
You can request a room type -- using Bay Lake Tower as an example...Magic Kingdom view, Lake View, Standard view. You don't know your room until you check in.
The owner can book anywhere on property at 7 months out, but for their home resort, they can book up to 11 months out.

Thank you I am working with Timeshare right now, they are great! Prompt emails and all my ?? and concerns have been answered. The only major down fall I see right now is the fact that you can't cancel or rebook. But I am going to take out a policy to cover it. We have several family we care for and I just don't want to have to worry about. Its a small price to pay for piece of mind. There will be no maid service correct?? They are putting in a request for me but should I call a week in advance of my vacation to confrim?? Any other info I should know about it?? Thanks!

I rented points for a recent stay at BLT. I had no problems at all. I used a 3rd party broker. I had to put down a deposit (a little less than $100) and provide my top 3 choices with specific dates. I got my first choice but I did book 7 months in advance. I had to pay the full amount in advance but that is spellled out clearly with all the information about booking. Our reservation was not a problem and we enjoyed our stay. I guess my biggest complaint was that we did not have "Mousekeeping" service which is more of a "want" than a "need".

I am renting points for the first time this year for a stay at OKW this summer. It took a little work and patience to find the points I need, but it paid off in that I got a really good deal. ($9 per point) I have my reservation number, I looked it up on the WDW site so I know it's there, and I even made online ADRs. I know some people don't like the fact that you don't get regular house keeping, but since it is just my son and I that really doesn't bother us.

HI, That is good to hear! I didn't realize that you could look up your reservation on WDW site!! I am trying to be patient too! How long did the entire process take, did you use the Timeshare store? They have been great to deal with! We are trying to stay at the BWV!

I found an owner on another board. PM me if you want the websites I used. It probably took me about two or three weeks, but it was worth the wait because I got such a great deal.
