    Default 1st return since 1996

We're thinking of taking our three kids to DL next January for four days. The last time we were there, we didn't have kids....it was our 1st anniversary, and we were poor college kids. We stayed at a cheap motel just off-property, ate at the McDonalds next door, except for a "splurge" to get dessert at the Blue Bayou restaurant.

I have started threads on both the DL Dining and Accomodations pages, looking for more info on dining and lodging (preferrably on-site) at DL. Any help that can be given would be greatly appreciated!

Next up - January 2023 short trip! We just want to try that 50th Anniversary chocolate monstrosity at Mexico!

We always stay at the Sheraton Anaheim (be careful as there are two Sheratons in the area) -- this is known as the Castle Sheraton. This hotel is not within walking distance but they are one of the few hotels that have their own PRIVATE shuttle that runs every 30 minutes from the hotel/park.

This was great as my 2 girls are usually exhausted by the end of the day so that they can sit and relax on the way back to the hotel. The plus side is that if the bus is full (either direction), the driver calls the hotel and gets another bus out within 5 minutes so you never have those crazy bus lineups.

A lot of DL area resorts will advertise that they are within walking distance but they can be really far still (years ago I stayed at a hotel across the street from DL but it sill took close to 40 minutes to navigate through the outer areas of the park and then through Downtown until I hit the main gates. A lot of hotels also offer shuttle through ART but that is a public bus which will stop off at several hotels.

    Hope this helps!
