Reno, NV

Could anyone recommend a safe, inexpensive hotel/motel in Reno NV for my daughter to stay in on her return trip home from CA?

$85-90 per night

It really depends on the date that she will be going through Reno. For example, the Peppermill has weekday rates for $69.99. Very nice resort hotel, but weekends are much higher.
Reno has been hit hard by the recession. I recommend that she stay in a hotel that doors do not open to the outside.

Is there another town around that area that might be safer? She will be driving from Orick CA and we have a girlfriend flying into Reno to meet her.

I didn't mean to imply it was not safe. I didn't realize she would be there with a friend and I just thought a female traveling alone better to be safe. There really isn't much else around there besides Lake Tahoe and then the price point will go up a lot. I recommend looking on trip advisor for Reno, NV hotels and you'll get a really good idea on the options. There are non-casino hotels in the area too. Good Luck.
