    Default Motorized scooters

Dont know if this is the right place to post this but,
We are headed to the world soon and my mom badly fractured her foot. Her doc said she cannot walk Disney, she does have a "walking boot" so she's not totally immobile but can't do a lot of walking. I was thinking the motorized scooter things would be better than a wheelchair, are they hard to get? I mean if we rent them from the parks is the availability limited? And is the only way for her to be able to bring one back to the parks for her to rent one from another source?
    Any advice?

My DMIL rented from yellowscooters. It was cheaper than the others and with it being yellow it really stood out. She was really happy with them.

No personal experience but everyone here speaks highly of Apple Scooters, you may want to give them a try.

The ones that are rented in the parks must stay in the parks, Apple will deliver to your hotel and you'll have it for your entire stay.

I've had great experiences with Apple Scooter twice. Never heard anything bad about them.

The EVCs at the parks are so expensive. Rent one from Apple. They will have it at your hotel. I see them lined up waiting for their passengers outside each hotel.
Your attention please, the Walt Disney World Railroad is now boarding for a trip around the Magic Kingdom

An another vote for Apple Scooters. We have great luck with them and will have another one in 3 days for my lady friend. The cost is all inclusive, meaning rental cost and they provide hazard insurance for the unit in the cost of the unit. They will deliever and pickup from your resort. We pick up ours at the bell captains desk.

Check out their web site they have reduced their prices since we last rented.

    Hope this helps....

Thank you for all the responses!
Does anyone know if they will deliver to a universal resort and pick up from a Disney one?

I have seen posts where they have done this in the past. Not sure if they still do so you might just want to drop them an email.

I am not sure, but if you check their web site there phone number is there or you could send them an email from their web site.

I would think that they would deliver and pick up from each resort. That would be a wild guess though.

I am sure they will work with you.

    Happy planning...

    Thumbs up

Any questions you have about Apple Scooters that you can't find the answer, call the number from the website and ask to speak to Alex. This guy is great with customer service.
I own my scooter but for WDW I now rent from Apple as it is so easy.

Thank you all so much, my mom is making her reservation today, this will be so much better for her than park rentals!

I rented from Apple for myself on our last 2 trips, in 09 and 10. On both trips the service was unbeatable. ECV was waiting for me on arrival, and when it was time to head home, I just left at luggage services to be picked up. I had done a load of research with other vendors and decided that Apple gave me by far the best bang for the buck.
I do not need them any longer though, because I just got my own ECV, and a new vehicle that fits both my DWs and my scooter, complete with a lift.

    Default Rented Scooter

How does one manage the WDW transportation system with a rented scooter? Are the monorails, boats and buses scooter accessible? My parents may be staying at the Shades of Green rather than with us and I want to make sure that if I rent one from outside that it is not more trouble for him than it is worth. He can walk for a short time, and can probably manage his hotel on foot slowly, but the parks will be a no go without a scooter or wheelchair. Thanks in advance for any help!

Rented or not there should not be any issues with any ECV. My lady friend has used one for the last three trips and never had an issue with the boats or monorail. They have ramps to assist with loading and the disney buses are handicap accessible.

The only issue with the buses is that if there are more than 2 ECV's to load the others will need to wait for an another bus. We never had that problem though.

    Hope this helps...

Zoe, a couple of other things you might want to know:
    1) The cruise down the hill from Shades of Green to the Poly is pretty quick and then you just go into the lobby and up the elevator for the monorail access.
    2) Some of the smaller boats that you have to step down into you cannot use the ECV.
