    Default Weather in December

    Hi
My son and I are going to disney on Nov 28-Dec 6. I have never gone this time of year. What type of clothes should we pack? Will it be too cold for swimming?
    Thanks
    LYNN

You'll probably need a variety of clothing. We've been many times between Thanksgiving and X-mas. Keep an eye on Strmchsrs forecast, he's very good at what he does.

Yes, I agree keep up with the weather on Chris's forecast.
On my trip in Dec. 2010 the weather was abnormally cold. Had to wear coats, scarves, ear muffs and gloves. On my trip in Dec. 2011. I was wearing shorts and t-shirts.
As far as the pools go; All Disney pools are heated. You can swim year-round. I have seen people in the pools when the temps were in the 30's. One thing to remember. It may be warm in the water but you have to get out sometime.

    Aw, shucks.

As the previous two posts have said, it really can vary in December. You can check the historic weather condition page in Info Central to see several years worth of exact data to get a good idea on what to expect for your dates.

However, looking at the LONG range forecast (which is generally useless beyond just overall pattern) I expect WDW to be at or below normal temps this December.

I can say that I've never been swimming during my December trips. But you never know with Florida. As far as how to dress in any month of the winter at WDW, I always say dress in layers. Chances are that all you'll need is some pants/jeans and a t-shirt. Maybe a sweater in the evenings. However, a cold front may move through and you'll need that sweater during the day. You'll have to check it out right before you leave.

And it looks like you'll be there the same days as us. I'll be looking for someone in a Tink sweater Shouldn't be many of those at WDW.

Weather in December can be all over the place. You could even get extremes (warm and cold) in the same trip.

We went in December 2010 and it was freezing a good part of our trip. We had to wear winter jackets, hats and gloves!! And other days it was so warm, the girls were in shorts.

We are going to be there during that same time and the weather is the only thing that makes me a bit nervous. I am one that has to plan everything far in advance, so not knowing what the weather might be like until a week or so before we leave is killing me!

But I guess as others have said, if we pack a little of everything - shorts and jeans, short sleeves and jackets. We should be ok. I just HOPE I won't need my mittens!

I sort of feel like you! I don't have the need to plan every detail, but I am not used to not knowing if I need shorts or jeans at Disney! I am trying to figure out if I should hit the summer clearance sales and stock up on shorts/tshirts for everyone (we are getting a bit raggedy over here ) or not...decisions, decisions.

I'll try to head out in the next few weeks and buy my kids some fall / winter clothing. That should guarantee all of you a warm December.

Thanks, that would be awesome And if everyone could go buy some snow shovels, salt, ice scrapers, etc, that would be helpful

Unfortunately I can't help with this because I bought my new snowblower last year and we got next to NO snow in NE. Hummm, what can I go buy to help out?

that literally made me laugh out loud! Murphy's law, have to love it lol.

Now, being from new England and used to leaving here for our January trips at minus degree weather, when we hit 50 it's like heaven, so this is a great question, as going for my first time in December, I'm trying to figure how I would pack differently than I would for january weather

We will be there the same time. I am carrying capris, jeans and tee shirts, a couple of lightweight long sleeved shirts and a jacket made from sweatshirt type material. One year in December we had to buy hats and gloves.. It varies. Take some of everything. Prepare to do laundry.

We are there 11/28 - 12/7 too! Look for the double jogging stroller with the Tink material on the seat cushions inside! Oh and the screaming 2 year old (not too many of THOSE in WDW!) We are worried about the weather too. I guess we will bring leggings and shorts for the girls, and expect to do laundry.

The year before I bought very little and we were freezing all of December and January. Clothes from last year still have tags! I would pack about the same for December as you do for January.
