    Default Charging to the room

When charging to the room using a debit card. Is the card debited at the end of the stay or after each room charge made? I have never used a room charge.

It's charged at the end of the stay, unless you'd like it done sooner.

At the end of the stay, unless you charge up to your room limit.

Last I heard, Values got a $500 limit, Moderates a $1000 and Deluxes a $1500. Once you hit that, your card is charged. It's been really tough hitting anything close to that amount in my last trips, so I'm not sure if you are shut off and need to visit the front desk, or if they start anew once you hit your limit. I've heard both answers.

I had to go to the desk on our 2010 trip and have them charge my credit card, despite the fact that we had been told it would happen automatically. We hit the limit and couldn't charge to the room anymore. I haven't charged to the room on any of my trips so far this year.

    Default Pop

We do the room charges for everything. At POP the limit is 500, so I stop at desk to clear it whenever we come back in. A nuisance sometimes, the dining can be 300 so I try to keep on top of it.

I hadn't realized how much my DW used our room key for payments until the bill was placed on our handle. I studied it closely. When the bill reached about $900, a charge was made, bringing the balance to $0. Then, at the trip's end, another charge was made for the balance.

We stayed at AoA in August and used a debit card for room charges. We were told that when the balance hits $500 the debit is applied to the card. We managed to skim in under the limit for the entire trip.

This seems like a really great reason to NOT juse the ticket as a charge card. I'd rather have the sticker shock once I was home instead of while I'm still on WDW property. Delay the pain.

Once while staying at Pop I reached the charge limit while attempting to make a purchase, but the CM just made a call back to the resort and reset the limoit after the charge was made. no problem

Funny I was just talking about room charge at WDW with DH. It is very convenient. I like not having to take my entire wallet with me to the parks - it is so much easier to carry your room key and charge away!

We did this for the first time when we went in august/September this year. Don't think I would do it again since you swipe the card like you never have to pay it lol. It was linked to our debit card so I guess it's the same as cash but I would rather have the cash in hand and pay that way. It was run at the end of our trip and they put a receipt on our door showing a $0 balance. Have a wonderful time

Is it possible to leave your credit card info at check-in, but every couple of days stop at the front desk to pay your current balance in cash, before it gets to the limit where they process the charge? That way you have the convenience of not carrying cash, but still stick within your budget?

Yes, you can stop by the front desk at anytime and make a payment.

I'm planning on doing this a couple of times during this upcoming trip, to keep a handle on the spending.

I like the charge to the room. Instead of 50 separate charges to my debit card there is just one or two. I must warn you. If you book room only (like I do) and use the same debit card to check in as the room charge: It will sometimes exceed the resort limit, making the first charge over the limit. This has happened to me several times. I drive 10 hours. Check in and go to pool bar on the way to the room. Instantly told I was over my limit 2 minutes after checking in. I tell them I just checked in and they "usually" get it sorted in a couple of minutes. Not that I mind relaxing at the pool bar instead of finding my room.

This is exactly what we do. We have a budget on what we want to spend and doing it this way helps me to keep track of our spending. We never been close to the limit, but meals can be costly and that alone would make us hit our limit.
