Default AKL for a 3 year old

Hi! My wife and I are taking our 3 year old daughter to WDW in late June and were wondering if anyone has any advice on staying at the AKL with a small child. Thanks in advance!

Have a blast! There's loads of activities around the resort (Kidani and Jambo guests are welcome to resort hop for activities). We made picture frames once, XMas ornaments another time, there are games like Bongo, etc.

The pool at Kidani has a great splash area, and there's a cool playground over at Jambo.

AKL is hands down my favorite resort on property. That's where we stay if we're going to Disney.

We have stayed at AKL quite a bit. We have done Jambo at least 3 times in the last 3 years and Kidani last April. On his first visit my son was 2. He is now 6.

AKL is a great resort for kids. Both pools are excellent. Kidani has an awesome water play area. Jambo also has a good playground near its pool.

The animals are a huge draw. We don't usually do a savannah view so we spend lots of time with the kids at the viewing areas. It is definitely worth spending time talking to the African cast members at the viewing areas.

Another family favorite is the campfire with marshmallow roasting as well as the fire with story telling. The kids loves sitting by the fire in the big rocking chairs.

Make sure you check out the daily schedule of events. There are lots of activities that are good for little ones- arts & crafts, music, story telling etc.

Have a great time. It is one of our favorite resorts.

My son was 2.5 and 3 years when we stayed at AKL. It is his favorite resort and talks about it everyday! He loves seeing the animals. We did have a savannah view room. He loves the pool! This past visit he was big enough to go down the pool slide. It was hard getting him off of it he loved going down it so much. We watched the movies outside at the resort. Played in the play area. But he just loved running around there viewing the animals, learning about them, and just being in the lobby were his favorites!
Enjoy it is an experience that cannot be topped! My son will not let us stay any other place! (and personally we don't want to either!) it is our favorite!!!!

There is a great playground at Jambo House, behind the pool. My son loved playing there. Also, at Kidani, there is an amazing splash area. I had no idea it was over there, but we went to check out the pool, and we stumbled upon the splash area. Since he cannot swim yet, he loved running around to the different watering holes and loved the waterfalls and play area. We seriously could have spent a whole day there. My son LOVED it.

He also liked the walk between Jambo and Kidani. We've stayed at both, and this past time we ended up at Jambo, and would walk over to Kidani to eat at Sanaa, and also to "explore".

Its hands down our favorite resort, anywhere, and our son loves it too. (he's 2.5 YO, btw)

    Default DVC stay

I have never stayed at the AKL but I have stayed at wilderness lodge and Bay lake, both are great places to stay. Our first trip with our son he was 1year 11months so we wanted to stay at a resort close to the monorail so we stayed at wilderness lodge, bay lake was not opened yet, the next trip was baylake. The reason we stay at the resorts we chose was the speed of getting around, our son is 7 now and this was his 11 trip (12-2-2012--12-9-2012) and we do not like riding buses every where we go. I can say the 2 resorts I stayed at are great but have no information on AKL. I think any where you stay at Disney is good so have fun. I you are not a DVC member join, it will save you lots of money, if you travel to disney at least 1 time every year or every other year.
