Default 1 night stay before package starts

Can you book a one night stay seperate from your vacation package? My flight doesnt get in until late evening. I do not mind paying for another night, but I do not want to pay for a park ticket and meal plan for a day that will be over by the time I get there.

I have done that a couple of times. I booked a night at ASMovies and then moved over to CBR the following day. Worked perfectly with DME. Kathy at MJ set it all up for me They were two separate reservations. The first was a room only and the second was a package.

we almost always do that if we're staying at a moderate or deluxe. We'll book the first night at a value then move the next day.

We have done this also. Stayed at All-Star Music - then moved to Port Orleans. It's quite easy

Our last trip, we did this at POR and were even able to stay in the same room for the entire stay.

We have done this often as well. If the flight arrives after 6PM, we usually get one of the 3.5-4 star hotels by the airport through the site with William Shatner as the Negotiator. I have gotten the 4-star hotels for $50 a night. We go out for a nice dinner somewhere right by in walking distance. The next morning, shuttle to the airport early 6 - 6:30AM. They will usually drop you off right at the DME. You just let them know and they will.

We did this last time. We decided closer to our trip to arrive a day early. We had the DDP package on our current reservation. The only flight we could get had us arriving in the early evening, so we didn't want to add all the extras that came with the package to a one-night's stay. Luckily, they were still offering 30% off room only reservations, so we just added one night (room only reservation) at our current resort (YC). We asked if they would put a request for continuous stay in our current room, and it was no problem, and we didn't have to switch rooms the next day.

On a prior trip, we wanted to try one of the value resorts when we decided to fly last minute. We got a AAA discount on a one-night's stay at AsM. We just called a cab the next morning and transferred to BC, having Disney transfer our luggage. Although we could have just taken our luggage with us because the taxi that showed up was a van and had plenty of room. But the luggage arrived in plenty of time to freshen up for our evening plans, so the transfer was no hassle at all.

While it does not address your meal plan issue, I just wanted to throw out that you do not have to book a package with hotel nights and park days being the same. You can just book as many park days as you want. That does not solve your dining plan issue though.

We did this in Nov. They even kept us in the same room so we didn't have to switch the next day. Though there's no guarantee they can always do that based on occupancy at that time.
