Default first time cruisers - Royal Caribbean??

Ok peeps – need some help/advice! For my DD high school graduation gift next summer she chose to do a Caribbean cruise. We are looking at Royal Caribbean sailing out of FL next July. It will be me, DH, DD and her friend. We have never done a cruise before so I want to do my homework and make sure we make an educated decision. So, my questions are:

    1. If you have sailed with Royal Caribbean, what are your experiences?
    2. I am worried about seasickness & have read about things to do to minimize it. Where are the best areas on the boat to book a room to help with this?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated! We have AAA but suggestions on best prices & what to look for would be great!

    Thanks in advance pals!!

We did an Eastern Caribbean cruise on Royal Caribbean close to two years ago. The only other time we ever went on a cruise was approximately 30 years earlier!!

We greatly enjoyed the ship and the amenities on board. For our cruise, we selecte a cabin with a verandah. After this, my husband said he would never sail again without having a private verandah!!

Seasickness was not an issue for us at all but it's hard to advise folks on this since it really varies from person to person. On our first cruise, we felt a little woozy for the first day or two but quickly got over it. I understand that being in the center of the ship helps.

    Excellent.
We've done 10 or so cruises with them and never had a significant issue. We've also sailed on Princess (4 times), Carnival (once and maybe never again), and Disney (3 times). Royal Caribbean is our favorite from the standpoint of service, its ships, ports, and its loyalty program.

Middle of the ship can help for your cabin, but many of the venues are at the top and ends of the ships. I get extremely motion sick, but I've never had an issue as long as I take Bonine once a day.

We love Royal Caribean as well. Great ports awsome service. We have also done Celebrity. I felt a Western swing is a little less wavy than east but thats just my opinion. Either way have a great time

RCCL is great. Their new ships are nothing short of fantastic. Larger ships don't seem to cuase as much problems with seasickness, so if you're thinking on of the Oasis class ships, I can't imagine having a problem. We've up to the Freedom class ships and smooth as butter.

I've found cruises to be a tremendous value for a vacation. Been on four cruises in the past three years, got another coming up and we're talking about another in 2014. We're looking at Europe in a few years, something tells me we're going to cruise it...

We did a Norweigin cruise only cause they have open dining...we also had a veranda, which was more than wonderful..we slept with the veranda door open to smell the ocean and hear the waves against the ship...
