    Default Disney without the kids?

Ever go to Disney without the kids?

DH and I may have the opportunity to go this summer for the weekend. I feel like we could catch a red eye and do so many more attractions if we went alone (not that I don't enjoy it with my kids). They are 2 and 4 so I know their feelings won't be hurt if we go to WDW over another place.

We haven't yet, but we are booked in August to celebrate our 10th anniversary. I think at times we will feel guilty. And during special moments like Wishes, we'll miss our kids. But overall, we are generally excited about the trip.

Have done it three times. Just got back on May 2nd from the last trip without kids. If you feel so inclined, I wrote up some trip reports (one for each day). They're fairly brief, and I tried to make them entertaining.

But, all in all, I recommend going without the kids. You'll also be surprised at how many other couples are there without kids.

We have gone twice without kids and yes you do feel a little guilty. Just remember you need sometime to enjoy each other and do adult stuff. We just did 3-4 day weekend trips and had a blast. On both trips we got the park hopper and would do all 4 parks in a day just so we could do all our favorite rides that we can't do with our kids.
The kids were never mad because we go every year with them since they were born (now 6 & 8). Enjoy your trip and take time to relax. We would sit on a bench and just people watch which is very relaxing. Watching kids on meltdown and the parents reaction are priceless. Makes you appreciate your alone time together.......

All but one of our trips were without kids because we don't have kids. Our last trip last year was 4 adults and we had a great time as always.

We did it for our anniversary and loved it. We got to do all the adult things that you can't do when you have a 4 year old. We ate dinners late, tasted wine at Epcot kiosks. The best part, we didn't have to do small world. That alone was worth leaving DS home.

I love going with my kids but I love going without them too. It's two different types of experiences. Go and have fun.

    Uh... yeah!

I have a love hate relationship with the red-eye though. I love getting there to get in a full day at the parks, but I have to budget some time mid-day to get some extra sleep. Sleeping on the plane just doesn't happen for me.

Absolutely do it and don't feel guilty about it. You can always take the kids next time. Nothing on earth is as romantic as watching Wishes with your soul mate! Have an amazing time!

Absolutely! There's lots to do for adults without kids, and you will get so much accomplished. I think it's great to have the time away if you can manage it. We only pulled it off before we had kids and once the kids were older.

.....spent 2 days at WDW with only the wife a few yrs back (before going on a cruise and meeting up with child #3 in Tampa) ...and it was GLORIOUS.

.....it was nice from a "couples time" together aspect (and less persons to share the bathroom with at the resort). I would do it again in a moment .....since I don't think you need kids around to do "kid things". I really believe, once you pass through the gates of one of the parks ...enter the resort ...or even drive under the "Welcome to WDW" type signs ....that 20 yrs is shaved off your "adult sensibilities" ...and that's great!!

....I should clarify that my "kids" ...are 17, 24, and 28 ...so I really don't get dragged into the whole 'catering to kids" type thing ....but it's nice to just have the adult time.

Yes! DH and I will be going again for the 2nd time without our DD this September and are looking forward to it. We try to do things we haven't done before... things we always say "Oh, we should try that!" or "If we have more time, next trip we will..."

We just go at a more relaxed pace to take it all in. I say go and ENJOY!!

Go and don't feel guilty. My son is 19 years old and he could really care less about the parks but my husband and I love it. We get a bonus because he will watch the dog while we're gone and don't have to spend extra for boarding fees.

We went a LOT before our DD was born - just the 2 of us. It's a blast! And we just got back from a week-long trip without her for our 10th anniversary...

Don't feel bad for taking time for yourselves - enjoy the kid-free pace and the opportunity to be free of your grown-up responsibility! You can even use the single-rider lines!!

And make sure you enjoy some kind of nice dinner - like Cali Grill or Jiko...a date-night...

We have gone 4 times without the kidos and are set to go this Oct. again without them. It really is a different experience without them. You aren't distracted or worried about the kids. You can take that brain energy and focus on the little things that Disney does so well. We don't feel bad because like others we take them at different times of the year and normally in Oct. it isn't but a 3 or 4 night trip. We eat at places that we know they would never like and we just go at a different pace. Ours are 16, 13 and 13(twins) and our adults only trips have given us wonderful memories. I wish now I could convince more people that WDW isn't just for people with children.

We have gone alone for our anniversary several times and last year for my birthday. We really enjoy it because we stay in a nice resort and do and see EVERYTHING. Sometimes with kids you don't get to do some of the things you want to do because they don't have the patience for it. The first time we went alone I felt guilty that we weren't taking the grandkids with us but I quickly got over it. We take them enough times that we don't feel guilty anymore going without them. I didn't really think DH would enjoy going alone as much as I would but he loved it and has agreed enthusiastically every time since then.

As a mom, I'm just worried about being in WDW and seeing all the happy kids and the wonderful memories they are making, causing me to miss our own kids. DH says he will try to point out the crying/tantrum throwing ones instead haha
