    Default Parking

Two days ago we became annual pass holders
My question is to those who visit often: Which parking location do you find to be the easier one to use?
We see there can be drawbacks to both types.
However, which one is more time practical?
    Thanks a million!!

Not sure what you mean...there is only one parking lot for each park, and you need to be staying at a resort or have ADRs to park at a resort

I liked the Mickey&Friends lot. If you are lucky to get the structure, you have covered parking. I never parked in the Toy Story lot.

After many nights waiting in long lines trying to get on a tram back to the Mickey and Friends Structure, someone suggested we try Toy Story lot. We haven't parked in the structure since. LOL It's not covered parking so for some that's a drawback but i have only ever had a long wait for a bus one time and that was Christmas week. There always seems to be a bus waiting or just pulling up ready to load. We really like it!

Same with us. The bus ride is a bit longer than the tram ride, but the line to get in to the parking lot itself is shorter and the line to get back on the bus to go over to the parking lot is shorter at the end of the day, as a general rule.

We were there last Wed and Fri.
We got out at the tail end of the fireworks. Took the tram, it worked out well. However if we would have waited it might have taken us much longer than it did the previous day using toy story.
Thanks for the advice and have a great day!!

About when do summer crowds begin to thin out?

Beginning of September can sometimes be almost a ghost town, except for Labor Day weekend. Last week of August may be slower than it is now.

I didn't know there were 2 parking lots when I was there a couple of weeks ago (my first trip to DL). I happen to be closer to the Toy Story parking lot (and it was the only I knew of) so that's where I parked. I can confirm that buses are literally sitting around waiting for passengers. It's the opposite of WDW where the passengers are sitting around waiting for the buses. It was fantastic!

I've parked in Toy Story lot a couple of times to go to the parks, but I still prefer Mickey & Friends. Usually the only time I use Toy Story is if I'm going to the Convention Center, as I did this weekend for D23.

I like the covered parking for Micky & Friends. I use the tram if the lines are not crazy, but there are several times that I will just walk.

Yes, but you only get 3 hours for free. You can stretch that another 2 hours by dining in a TS restaurant at any resort of at DtD. I used to park in the DtD lot frequently when I knew I was only going to stay for a couple hours. I would take the monorail into the park.

FWIW, I liked Toy Story and M&F equally. However, the edge goes to Toy Story if you are planning on arriving at a time that tends to clog up the M&F structure, which would be early mornings on weekends and all summer, and late afternoon arrivals (around 4-6pm weekdays). M&F lines of cars to get into the structure can take up to 30-45 min at these times, so you are better off using Toy Story.

I also like that the Toy Story buses are climate controlled.

We have the parking attached to the AP. Can we park in DTD lot with it? Or do we have have to pay extra even if we have parking on our passes?
    Thanks

AP parking does not carry over in to the DTD parking lot. Mickey & Friends structure or Toy Story lot only.

Last Saturday (Sept 14) the parking structure was closed for paving and we were directed to park in Simba and walk through Downtown Disney. Any word if the structure is reopened?
