Default Kidani Village or Saratoga Springs

Trying to make a decision. We normally stay at Saratoga Springs Villas and book a one bedroom. Now I'm considering a change to Kidani Village at AKL. What do you think? Is the extra cost worth it? Would you ever consider a studio at Bay Lake Towers or a tower room at Contemporary? I'm in a quandary and need to make a decision!

    Thanks for the help!

We really enjoy Kidani Village and if you haven't tried it, it is definitely worth it. It is worth the extra cost. It is a relaxing, beautiful resort with many things to do. The pool is great and the animals amazing! The 1 bedroom also has two bathrooms which can be a plus!

I also like BLT and that is a fun resort to try. I would choose Kidani 1 bedroom over studio at BLT because of the washer and dryer!

We have stayed at both and there isn't even a fair comparison between the two, in my opinion.

Saratoga felt like any hotel, that could have been located anywhere. We found nothing special about it. That was in 2008 and it has never even crossed our minds to try it again. Completely forgettable experience.

Kidani (and even more so Jambo) felt like an experience in itself. Truly a unique and special resort. We have stayed at Jambo twice and Kidani once, and will likely stay at both again someday. In my opinion totally worth any extra cost.

I have never stayed at Saratoga but I have stayed in a 1 bedroom at Kidani. It is a beautiful resort and the 1 bedroom villas are gorgeous. The master bathroom is enormous. I really like the pool area too. It is a bit more remote compared to some of the other resorts but I think that just helps with the atmosphere.

I've stayed in a 1 bedroom at BLT. I liked BLT and you can't beat the convenience but I would pick AKL over BLT unless the most importance factor for you is closeness to MK. For me BLT feels very much like a condo.

I have also stayed in a tower room at the Contemporary. We had a lake view which was very pretty. The room is nice but of course does not have nearly the amount of space of a 1 bed villa. Depending on the floor and location of your room, it can be a little loud with the noise from the open areas.

All are great choices but for me, AKL is the winner.

    Thumbs down

Kidani it is! The one bedroom villas look awesome. Thanks so much for your clarifications - I was already thinking Kidani would be best for us! Have a wonderful evening!

Another vote for Kidani - it is a very unique and special experience to stay there. SSR is nice, but not like Kidani. Enjoy your stay!

We own at SSR. Here is our stay history...

    2 times at SSR
2 times at SSR - Treehouse Villas
    3 times at Kidani
1 time at Wilderness Lodge Villas

While SSR is nice and still has a very muted Disney-ness to it, we will probably only stay there if we are staying in the Treehouses which is BY FAR MY FAVORITE!!!

But, Kidani? No where else on earth will you be able to see a Savannah with animals right outside your door. It's such an experience! We also found the buses to be MUCH BETTER at Kidani than at SSR. As soon as you pull up and walk through the doors, the drum beats and the view and the thrill of it. Just awesome.

We are doing a split stay at BWV and BLT 1-bedroom next month. We chose a 1 bedroom at BLT for the washer/dryer and also have a lake view.

Hope you have a great time at Kidani. I just know that you are going to love it!

P.S. There is a shuttle van that goes between Kidani and Jambo house. But, it really isn't a long walk even though the map makes it look like it's far! If you get the chance, eat at Sanaa... it is a hidden gem of a place with fab food!

Having stayed at both, I definitely recommend Kidani! Saratoga was nice, but it was really boring and I hated the outside hallways. Didn't feel like a deluxe resort. Kidani has beautiful grounds, theming and Jambo house is only a short walk away. Have a great trip!

There is nothing like the animals at AKL. Whether you have a Savannah view or not, the animals are just magnificent. What other resort offers that?

first let me say that me and dw's dvc home resort is Saratoga Springs(purchased on our 1st cruise), since we go back to WDW at least 2-3 times a year we like to change resorts. We've stayed at OKW/Jambo House/Boardwalk and on 1 of our WDW stays with a cruise at the end we stayed at Kidani Vilage. i will agree that the grounds with the views is breath taking, but that's it. the parking underground made us feel like we were parking at garage in NYC, and the bed in the room was horrible and i mean horrible, the bed on the Disney Dream cruise ship was night and day better.(to compare) im sorry but when your huffing it threw WDW all day and you get to the room you want to be comfortable, and we also didn't like the bathroom situation it was dark and gloomy. the grounds once inside the resort were nice , but that's not where i'm sleeping. imho

ps the rooms at both Saratoga and OKW and even Boardwalk seem allot bigger

We love SSR. I don't think it's worth the extra money to stay at AKL. The pool as SSR is really nice and we love the more subtle disney atmosphere.
