About my own home town - York, PA....I know things were filmed in the area, but the only movie that I know mentions it is "1776" -- as the Articles of Confederation were written here.

Harrisburg had been featured on ABC TV for years as the opening scenes for "All My Children" as the fictional Llanview; Lititz, PA has been mentioned on Castle; "Witness" was filmed in Lancaster County and has a few local town mentioned.
Are you serious? I know them! I work with Katie and have met Terry - they're awesome people!

The M Night movie The Happening was filmed right near my house -- Phoenixville and Valley Forge. I tried watching it, but it was so boring that I didn't get to anything that I recognized!! The original The Blob was filmed near me, also in Phoenixville. The famous scene with everyone running out of the theater was filmed at The Colonial Theater, still in business, and I have been there many times.

I have read the book Silver Linings Playbook, but have not yet seen the movie. Apparently, they filmed some of it at Norristown State Hospital, also near me.

Another movie that I haven't seen was The Lovely Bones, and supposedly some of that was filmed in Royersford, also right near me.

While all of these films were made literally around my home town, my little tiny town is famous for being where John James Audubon first lived when he came to America -- and his home (Mill Grove) is still here and is beautiful

Current hometown, not that I am aware. Except in figure skating competitions. Simsbury CT is home to the rink where Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Oksana Baiul, Alexei Yagudin, and many others have trained for competitions and the Olympics.

But my college town, where I went to school and lived for many years, has been mentioned, particular the college. Mount Holyoke College has been mentioned in many things:

Wendy Wasserstein's play, Uncommon Women and Others, set at Mount Holyoke. Also Wendy was class of 77 and my commencement speaker in 1990.

Dirty Dancing's Frances "Baby" Houseman was preparing to attend Mount Holyoke in the fall.

In National Lampoon's Animal House, Emily Dickinson College is a thinly veiled Mount Holyoke.

And finally, Lisa Simpson references Mount Holyoke a few times on the Simpsons.

I've got nothing for the town I was born and raised in, but for several years I lived in Ames Iowa and while it's not mentioned in the movie several of the outdoor scenes from Twister were filmed there. We also got to be one of the extra towns voting on America's Funniest Home Videos once (for a $100,000.00 episode). It's fun to tell people I appeared on AFV. LOL

From there I moved to Davison, MI. While Michael Moore talks about his hometown of Flint in Roger and Me, he was actually born and raised in Davison (which is nothing like Flint) which we find funny. A few of the scenes were filmed there too.

Although filmed in California, Fight Club has several references to Wilmington, Delaware and South Jersey. Apparently the author of the book on which the movie was based worked at a bank in Delaware for several years and set the story there.

Dead Poets Society was filmed in Middletown, Delaware and parts of Failure to Launch were filmed in Cape Henlopen, Delaware.

In addition to Middletown, Dead Poet's Society also filmed the scene with the A Midsummer Night Dream performance in a lecture hall at the University of Delaware. When I first started there as a student in 1987, the lecture hall still looked exactly as it did in the movie. By the time I graduated, they had renovated and it looked much different.
