It's about time Disney got their act together and fixed Epcot's biggest problem: Journey into the imagenation not having a fast pass!
I mean, really people, if I didn't know better and showed up with a fast pass and the wait time was only the 2 seconds it takes for the ride door to open I would be frustrated. I need someone to explain why Disney is spending so much time and money on a system that was almost perfect. Yeah Toy Story and Soarin fast passes go quickly, but the solution to that problem is having more than two in-demand rides at Epcot and only 3 at the Studios.

May have to find a better way to spend my vacation money.
The Fastpasses for Toy Story Mania have been running out no later than 10 to 11 every day since the attraction first opened in 2008, that is nothing related to FP+.
Actually, the FP+ system will eventually improve the availability of TSM Fastpasses in the future since you will be able to book them in advance without participating in the Hollywood Studios Running Of The Bulls.

Enjoy!!!
Well, what???? And what if you had dining plans at the time they changed it too? Or other things reserved? Other plans? Other parks even?
I'm local, but this terrible for those of you planning out and traveling in! I am so sorry.
I would say keep calling/writing Disney, even if you feel blue in the face. Come back from your vacations and fill out the complaint forms. This is ridiculous!
And as a local, now I'm starting to get nervous about our own experience there. I'm gong November 16th for an overnight trip to celebrate my son's 7th birthday. We will be utilizing the new DAS/old GAC because of his ASD/SPD/Anxiety. I am dreading it!!!!

Wow!
We are adding one person to our already large group of 24 tomorrow. I will need to add that one person to some of the FP+ selections I've already made. This new guest is my 11 year old nephew. So I guess now either he won't be able to have the same FP selections as the rest of the group, or I'll have to change my family's FP so that he is not left out. I can't leave an 11 year old sitting out by himself while everyone else enjoys a ride. Wow, just wow.

I'm actually finding it harder and harder to believe just how bad this has gotten. I'm personally pretty shocked that Iger or someone from corporate hasn't intervened and shut this mess down by now.
The backlash from the public is immense, the system is clearly a disaster, they can't even figure out how they want it to work, and it's so darn complicated that it's enough to make people's heads spin. Not to mention that it's seriously alienating local AP holders.
Not that everyone doesn't know this, but it's really time for a total change in leadership at The Walt Disney Company. They're just lost.

......Epcot used to need 2-days to 'do' because there was so much to do. But, NOW... it is a 2-day park because there is so little to do. Disney's problem is a lack of rides ...MAJOR rides at Epcot.
....and then ...what are the MAJOR Epcot attractions to choose from? TT and Soarin ...and ...and ....and ....please ...someone help me here. Are they going to say Maelstrom? Spaceship Earth? (which is ridiculous to have a FP for anyway)!!
....it seems like Disney's got this plan in mind to get people to stay onsite (resorts) and stay longer to be able to do the minimum. I have an idea that FP+ and it's associated perks will be restricted to onsite guests in the near future. It's likely that you'll be required to book a vacation of a certain minimum length, with maybe a mandatory added dining plan so that you can get the FP+ perk. And with that "nominal purchase" ...you'll maybe get an added FP+ reservation. Or ...I could see a resort guest option to pay EVEN MORE to get added FP's ....and that perk will not be available on any of the stays that are 'promotions" like room or food discounts....and have minimal stay lengths of say ...+7 days
....they (Disney) need to be very careful with this ...because ...to be honest ...it's no longer a place that people will pay any amount to go. I know ...because after 10 yrs and 11 straight trips ...we're 99% sure that we're not going back next year. All these mandatory planning steps that need to be taken ...and the added cost ...makes the overall value (to me) quite a bit less.

Why are you shocked? There were some of us telling everyone how much of a disaster this was going to be before it was even implemented... and were were basically told to shut up, stop going to Disney, and called a doomer and gloomer... Well, can I ask who apparently was right? Don't say you weren't warned... Cause you were... (Not you personally Ian)...

I'm expecting to get a letter in the mail similar to the one I got a few weeks ago:
Since your current vacation plan does not meet the newly enacted minimum requirements of MDE, your vacation will be cancelled.

I can't wait to go to Disneyland next week. A nice, pure Disney vacation....for the time being. Hopefully this mess, which I've disliked from the very first moment I heard about it, never gets implemented out there.

Expect at least the bands to come to Disneyland... FP+ on the other hand, maybe not so much...

I'm at Disneyland right now. It's been a great trip. Did TSMM yesterday. 30 min wait. They don't have FP. Talked to a CM who's been there since it opened. She said (I know, I know) the reason they dont have fp for TSMM at Disneyland is because of the chaos and complaints that DHS has. Wait time at Disneyland rarely exceeds 30 min, and everyone is much happier.
Few rides at DLR even have FP available. We did get one for Soarin', but it wasnt really necessary: the return time was 45min away, but the standby time was 35 min. We only got the fastpass because we were hungry and wanted to get a bite first (which, as I recall, is what FP was supposed to be about originally anyway).

Is it just me or is it slowly becoming a digital version of the ancient ticket system. E-A tickets anyone?

I don't mind the bands for room key, charging, etc., but I do wish they'd continue to offer a card option as well.

Sounds like the old E tickets.......only get a few premium ride choices per day.
I am so glad our week trip isn't going to involve a lot of park time - not liking the info about this FP+

After reading about this new FP program, I'm glad I skipped WDW this year after 23 previous trips.
The Disney vacation has morphed into a lock-step schedule. You eat at THIS time, you ride at THIS time, you do not deviate from this schedule. What's next? Bathroom breaks reserved 180 days out?
I can tell you that people will be unhappy when unforeseen things happen, and their carefully constructed vacation goes boom. They will be angry and upset. They will start thinking of alternatives to Disney.
I wonder how long it will take for Disney to realize they are shooting themselves in the foot.
