Becoming a D23 Member?

I was just reading about becoming a D23 Gold Member and wanted to know if any could give some reasons to or not to become a member. We are huge fans and go to Disney World every year . We live near the Philadelphia area but it seems like a lot of the perks of becoming a member are for people who live in or near California. Please let me know if you like being a member etc.

Honestly, being a D23 member just means you pay to be able to buy exclusive collectibles. If you're really into collectibles it's great, but if not it's definitely not worth the money.

Ditto, you actually get a magazine, but I think the normal package is a perk to DVC members. I haven't even cared to check quite honestly. Disney collectives aren't what they used to be if you ask me.
