Default Family of Six- Free Dining or Room Discount?

We love the DDP, probably wouldn't want to do WDW without it. Is it possible to get a decent enough room rate for a family of six (no kids are old enough to room on their own), to offset the cost of purchasing the DDP out of pocket?

Disney's Art of Animation Suites might be a possibility for your family but typically they do not offer discount on rooms. The plus here is that you have two bathrooms.

The cabins at Fort Wilderness might be another option for your family. This location is often included in room discounts and might even quality for free dining, if offered. The downside is there is only one bathroom.

You could also look at villas.

Do the math to see what might work best for you and your family.

The only thing I would add to what Linda said is contact Magical Journeys as they can work out all the potential scenarios for you and find out what will save you the most. "Free" dining is iffy as to whether it saves money, but for a family of 6 it just might, depending on where you're staying. The only problem with it is you pay full rack rate for the rooms and the added room expense can off-set much for the discount, especially at the higher level resorts.

First off, since you have a family of 6, your room options are rather limited -- Suites at AoA or AllStars, or Wilderness Cabins, if you all want to be in the same "room", or two rooms elsewhere (at least one 'adult' in each room).

Next, you have to weigh those options and choose your resort. Only then can you look into what the room discount would be for that particular resort, if any, for your time frame.

Based on your family size, it looks like the cost of the DDP out of pocket would be more than the cost of any room at rack rate, so a room discount could not offset the cost in full.

BUT, as the others have already said, you should definitely contact Magical Journeys. In any evant, they will come up with the best, most cost-effective plan for your family!!!

Thank you all! I think we are now considering staying off-property, so the DDP would be out for us anyway. We just can't figure out a more cost-effective way to get us all into the least amount of rooms, considering that half of us are kiddos.
