Default ft wilderness from western way

We always come into WDW on Western Way off 429. I was looking at a map of WDW and it looks like you have to go through the toll gate to MK on World dr before you can get to Vista to enter FW. Is that right or is it just not detailed on the maps?

Yes. When coming to the Magic Kingdom gate, stay as far to the right as you are allowed (The slot furthest to the right is usually reserved for Disney busses). Let the cast member at the gate know you are checking in at Fort Wilderness and you will be waved through the gate and directed to take the road to the right for Fort Wilderness.

Just put port orleans into your gps and when you arrive pass it up and keep driving and make a left at the light. You will run into fort wilderness and not have to go through any of that jazz or the MK window.

Yes, the back side in is often much easier.

Coming from Western Way, this is kind of the *looooooong* way....If you do this, you'll go right past World Drive, which would take you to the MK toll plaza and Ft. Wilderness anyways...

    Default Two good ways

I have taken the routes suggested by both Faline and Jonahbear in my motorhome. Both are good and no problem for my motorhome. I usually go through the MK toll plaza because it is a tad more direct - but if there is a traffic backup that can very quickly erase your time savings. Either way works just fine, depending on the traffic at the time.
