    Default Fishing In Disney

My husband wants to do some fishing on our vacation. Are you allowed to fish in Disney if you don't do an excursion?? Could you fish if we rented a boat?? We're staying at Pop. Can you fish at the lake there??

All fishing at Disney is catch and release. You cannot fish from a boat you rent yourself. There are "fishing holes" at a couple of the resorts. I don't know how it works at Fort Wilderness now but you used to be able to rent poles from the Bike Barn and fish in the canals there.

Yes, you can fish at Disney. Just bring $$$. No fishing from the banks, you have to pay for a fishing "excursion".

If you want to do some old fashioned regular fishing, there are plenty of lakes nearby that allow public fishing. Easy if you have your own transportation and gear. Not so easy if you don't.

I love to fish, but I can't justify spending the $$$ at WDW for parks/resorts vacation to spend time fishing. I can go on a much less expensive fishing trip other places and keep what I catch if I want to.

You do not need to pay to fish. You can fish at Fort wilderness and several other places for free. You do not need a FL fishing license as long as you are on Disney property. We have fished there on several trips

You can still rent gear at FW.

Sorry if I was misleading. I meant you could not fish from a boat in the lake without hiring a guide on an excursion. Kind of expensive.

You can fish in the canals at FW and from the dock, I believe, but only those locations. Catch and release only.
