    Default Pixie dust?

Just got a call from the nursing home my Gramps is in. He has Alzheimer's and fell today. They think he broke his hip (he was just going in for X-rays). He's been doing ok, but I just can't shake the feeling that this could be bad.

So if you have some extra dust you can share, I'd be glad to be on the receiving end.

Having watched a loved one succumb to Alzheimer's, I empathize. It's so much harder when they become injured because they struggle to understand what's going on. and prayers heading your way. Hang in there

It's pretty bad. Broken hip, broken femur. No clear answer from anyone how it happened. The surgeon is coming to see him today, but isn't confident he would be a good candidate for surgery....

This isn't at all how I envisioned this weekend....

I know you do Mel. That's almost the worst part of this. He doesn't understand what's going on...

prayers and pixies on the way. Alzheimer's is so very wicked. We watched my fathers lady friend go through it to the end. Good luck to your grandfather and you and your family.

Just talked to mom again...Moving him to comfort care now. Giving him pain meds and letting him go. He has had a series of breathing issues and a heart attack this morning. I just really don't want him to be suffering anymore.

So sorry to hear that Meg, but understand the sentiment of not wanting him to suffer anymore. Hope he can rest pain free from this point forward.

He passed away just after I posted the last update. I'm sad, but greatfull that he's at peace and with my Gram. I'll miss him, but happy to have had 37 years to have him as my Gramps.

Thanks for the love everyone. It's much appreciated.

    I am so very sorry.
My mom fell and broke her hip at the end of last year. She was not a surgical candidate either. It took three long, painful weeks for her body to give up. There is certainly peace in knowing they are no longer in pain.
