World of Color
Is there anywhere to watch World of Color from outside the park?

Some of the rooms at Paradise Pier Hotel (park view) and some of the rooms at Grand Californian (perhaps only some of the DVC villas) have views that would allow you to see World of Color. Don't know if the accompanying music would be available in the rooms.

I was staying at the DVC villas at the Grand Californian and they do have the music available on one of the tv stations. At least they did a year or so ago.

Besides the hotel views already described, there is nowhere to see WoC outside of the park. In fact, it's kind of hard to see it from some of the actual viewing areas inside the park. :/ My suggestion is to do a dining package and get to the viewing area as soon as they let folks in.

Thanks. I am asking because I'm thinking it may not be shown on the days we are in the parks, and the Sunday we arrive our tickets will be blacked out. Would be a bummer if it's showing the Sunday night, but not for the other nights we are there. Just didn't want to overlook an alternative way to see it from outside the park if one existed. Looks like we may just not get to see it. Thanks.

Unless there turns out to be a refurbishment scheduled for WOC during early January you should be able to see it. It usually runs nightly. It is not quite as "seasonal" as Fantasmic!

That would be terrific news! I would really love to experience this show.

You can also get the FastPass for the show when the park opens as well. Cars Land is still the biggest draw. When we're doing a full day at the park, we get in line for our Radiator Springs FastPasses first. Once we have those, then we go over to Grizzly River Run area to get the World of Color FastPass.
Since the WOC FP lets you into zone viewing area sections, the real key is just being in line when they open the viewing area to try to be on the first row of whatever section you're in to get the best unobstructed view.

Do they still offer the World of Color picnic? I remember reading about this a while back. And if it is still offered does anyone have experience with it they would like to share?

I recommend the dining package. Carthay Circle for lunch is a great option. The restaurant is gorgeous. Dinner at Wine Country is another great choice.

WoC picnic options were discontinued last year.

Refurbishment alert:
There has been a WOC refurbishment announced for January 7 through March 12. Luckily this should give you time to see the show if you are there before the 7th.

Awesome! We sure will be cutting it close, but hopefully it works out for us. I had sort of figured there would be closed attractions because of our dates.

Veering away form WOC but addressing your comment on closed attractions, it appears that January 12th is the big date for a bunch of closures, with a few going down the week prior.
Keep your eye on the Refurbishment Thread.

I'm planning my first ever DL trip (usually frequent the World). Can you describe the setting of WOC? Is it a stadium like Fantasmic in WDW? Or is the viewing area standing? Trying to decide whether to plan to fp WOC or to do a dining package. Thanks for your help! Excited to see the "original" but so much to learn!

World of Color is a fountain and water screen show on the Paradise Pier lagoon. The viewing area is all standing, along the front side of the lagoon, along a paved area that is divided into sections (by walls, fences, and shrubbery). Most people are at eye level with most of the show. There is no "incline" although there are three levels you can stand on. It is hard to see if you are not tall and someone taller is in front of you. I would recommend a dining package because those get the better viewing areas.

Ok, one more question on this one: does WOC happen every night (we'll be there early Oct if that matters)? If not, when does the schedule get released?
