WDW Railroad Refurb

Does anyone know why the WDW Railroad is going down for refurb for so long again?? It was down this past October and since it was my first time I did not get to ride it and it left me feeling like a little magic was gone and since I am going again in October this year I was really looking forward to riding it and now I am once again disappointed.

Since Disney is open year round, they have no choice but to close some attractions in order to maintain/refurbishment them. It stinks that the same attraction you wanted to ride will be closed on two different trips but it happens sometime.

I just returned from WDW and while riding the WDW Railroad I noticed that clusters of in-use railroad ties had orange paint marks on them, and then there was a pile of new railroad ties off to the side. I thought the paint marks were odd since the track was just closed for refurbishment twice in the last two years, but seeing what I saw made me think another closure was pending, and your post has confirmed my hunch.

I am with you on feeling disappointed about it, I don't for the life of me understand why they keep closing the line down to do track maintenance then just a few months after they open it back up they make another closure announcement.

When is it closing this time?? I also missed it our last trip and my train loving boys will really be sad if it's closed again in December!

From what I've seen, it's slated to be reopened by December.

Maybe they thought it was better guest-service-wise to have it shut down for a shorter period two times instead of a longer period ONE time.

Oh no. My son is going to be crushed! He has been talking non-stop about the WDW Railroad. So is it down now? We may go again in Dec for my bday...we are going in July and also late Oct-Nov. He is going to be so upset.
